Exclamation Tanny question!!! Idk what this is???

okay so i was getting my exhaust put in and i noticed while my car was up on the lift, there was a hole in the bottom of the tranny (correct me if im wrong) . i noticed its open and the internals are exposed.. not sure what it is for.. is it some sort of breather?? so im asking if this is normal or it is a bad thing, am i missing a cap or something??.. my car shifts and drives good.. other than my throw out bearing making a winding noise... other than that its fine...

please give me some information!!!

It's supposed to have a rubber plug in it. I guess it's a drain plug for the bellhousing? The bellhousing also has an opening on the passenger side with an inspection cover.

some trannys have a plate that covers the same hole, but is squared on mine.

put something in there to close it. anything. hell... if oyu feel so inclined, just duct tape it. that space is just empty space in there with no fluids or anything.

A lot of muscle cars> drag race cars have the whole bottom house of the flywheel uncovered.
Cover it with something if you feel so inclined, I think the only real risk might be puddles that could contaminate the clutch.
someone correct me if I'm wrong

Its just an inspection hole. Not a huge deal. They come from the factory with a rubber plug. Not much of anything is gonna find its way up there, and you would have to have the worst luck for anything to get in there and damage something.
