S5 Lowe's Lip

I've seen a lot of home made lips or chin spoilers for S4's so I thought I would have a go at one for my S5. What do you guys think?

+1 that looks great! Can't really complain for the price.

rotarybeat1287 12-28-09 08:03 PM

I was all "oh no" at the title but that looks really clean and good. Very nice! I'm curious myself to see how you went about making this and getting it to look so OEM.

Tension 12-28-09 08:33 PM

I'll take some more pictures of it up close and the materials I used.
And I wasn't really going for anything too aggressive, just wanted to make something bigger than what it came with from the factory.

13bpower 12-28-09 09:11 PM

Looks good! Need some closer pics and how it was made.

Gregory Casimir 12-28-09 11:32 PM

tevan 12-29-09 02:27 PM

DC 91 fc3s 12-29-09 05:12 PM

what exactly did you use for the lip????

Gregory Casimir 12-29-09 07:33 PM

KhanArtisT 12-29-09 07:57 PM

puhpaper 12-29-09 09:49 PM

help your rotary brothers out!

rxdrift7 12-29-09 11:28 PM

Pretty sure it's garage door sealer. The rubber used at the bottom. Subaru guys have been using it for lips for a while. Double sided tape IIRC.

Spirit Rx-7 12-30-09 02:20 AM

looks great! like the beefier version of the stock s5 lips

Tension 12-30-09 02:55 AM

Yeah it's basically just garage door sealer and double sided tape with some screws.
But as for strength, it holds up pretty well.
I drove at about 115-125 mph for about half an hour and it's still on there.
One of the corners started separating but mostly because I didn't put that much tape on it.
From far away it's hardly noticeable.
I got caught up working on my girl's car today but I'll post up a walk through tomorrow.

I don't get the point, it looks nice and all but its almost the same size as stock..

Gregory Casimir 12-30-09 06:58 PM

and what did you you use for yours? it doesn't seem to flow with the bumper like his does.

FocusKC 12-30-09 07:30 PM

Looks awesome. Can't wait for a write up.

puhpaper 12-30-09 08:17 PM

yeah, i want to know how you got it to follow the bumper lines under the grill and what not.

Looks good. If you can't find an S5 TII lip it is a good economical alternative.

E_Dub 12-31-09 01:32 PM

Or you could just keep the stock black piece. Which looks the same.
