The conversion is possible. Cause people with verts know its damn near impossible to find s5 vert lights in good condition!! Little bit of modifications, which would include drilling a hole, they fit right in! Also if you're doing this conversion you'll need the center plate from the s5 model as well.

Just haven't heard of anyone trying to retain the use of the key release yet

It requires some trimming of the metal as well, while not terribly difficult its something else to consider other than just "drilling a hole"
