S4 vs S5 FC

What is the biggest difference between the S4 FC and he S5 FC and the turboII and the Non Turbo?

(Of course i know the differences between the engines)

Any Info would help.

(I tried to search but nothing.)

Thanks

S5's had automatic seat belts
S5's have more power (both turbo & NA)

S4's have a working temperature gauge ;)
S4's had a twin scroll turbo

S5 was not called the Turbo II
S5's did not have EGR's

After that it can get quite technical!

RotaryWeaponSE7EN 04-11-09 03:21 PM

s4 > s5 proven fact

93rx74lyfe 04-11-09 03:57 PM

S5 will always be > S4

Hypertek 04-11-09 04:42 PM

The only thing you need to know is that S4 and S5 owners will always be biased towards whichever model they own. Take that into consideration. Yet alot of guys love to put S5 tails on their S4 lmao.

Most aftermarket bodykits are flavored towards the S5.

2slow4stock 04-11-09 04:45 PM

Also don't forget that the S5 turbo is twin scrolled also.

Hey I love me some old school aero like yours sports and such. Just every piece you find is all fucked up and out of production. lol. But I love both S5's and S4's. I would kill to have an S5 TurboII but I love my S4 TII.

Most people will automatically nutswing off the S5. Really, it doesn't matter what you get. If you're going to do S5 bumpers and tails, buy an S5.

all the electronics are different, cpu as power steering control built into it on s5, front control arms on s5 have non-replacable ball joints, both front and rear sway bar links are plastic and diff design on s5, gas tanks are larger on s5, the gauge cluster surrounds are cast slightly different on s5, center console is different due to lap belt, additional speaker mounts in doors on s5, some s5 seats have additional tilt adjust, s5 has semi power locks, s5 "idiot light" cluster and shroud different, door harness plug in in different spot, s5 has door closed switches in the door latches, s5 window switchs are different, rear cargo light is mounted in trunk area of s5 instead of on hatch strut, obviously body mouldings bumpers tail lights and mirrors, key in switch on ignition cylinder different, cluster switches slightly different, and it sure does seem to me like the s5 is made out of "cheaper" or at least maybe thinner or softer metal. the body panels and firewall flex when very little pressure is put on them way easier then my s4. im sure there is more.

Here are a few more:

S5s are about 100-150 pounds heavier, S5 NA has higher redline than S4, S4 LSDs are clutch-type while S5s are viscous, S4 GXLs had LSD while S5s did not, there is a black rubber spacer gasket around the plastic front bumper cover on S4 and none on S5, the colored tint band at the top of the windshield is green on S4 and blue on S5, the 14" "phone dial" wheels were only available on S4, S5s have an "anti-flooding" feature built into the cpu (holding pedal to floor when cranking kills the fuel pump), S5 shift knob has different thread than S4, S5 shifter has slightly shorter throws than S4...

Probably S4. It's lighter and some of the suspension stuff is stronger. Plus you won't be chastised as hard because S4s are usually written off as worthless anyway.

S4. S5 . 500Hp this and that..who cares. They're both alright, (almost junk) no matter what unless it's like this.

Heres how most people on the forum argue which is better... but it trully never ends.

^I was surprised how close that poll was

Really, neither is 'better'. It all depends on what you like. The S4 has all the old-school flavor, while the S5 is sleek and sexy. They're still FCs no matter what.

waldog 04-13-09 04:59 AM

The turn signal switches are different (S4 ones are better imo). The door panels are different the center consoles are different, rear view mirror is different. Steering wheels are different too?

Thanks for asking this question...

sunburn 04-13-09 11:43 AM

I love my S4... honestly I like the bumpers and stock tails better then the S5... -but I'm old school.

unren 04-13-09 01:29 PM

i love my s4, and its REGULAR seatbelts!!! o and the N/A LSD

Tyler [S5 FC] 04-13-09 02:06 PM

The one thing I was mad about is that I knew the GXLs had a LSD, but only after I bought my S5 did I learn those didn't! And I do like S4 tails more, other than that I like the S5 more, its just way sexier

K!NCH 04-13-09 04:14 PM

I love my S4 (stock clutch LSD type ftw), but I prefer the body of and S5. That's why I converted. :D Best of both worlds.
