We will have to see what happens. I would like a hybrid set up like my hemi. Full power unless on interstate and cut four cylinders off but just run on electric motor on interstate while maintianing a constant speed. I know rotorys dont get the best gas milege but who knows what high tech wizardry they can add.

Coal burning power plants are cleaner and more efficient than any ICE, so its not really the scam you make it out to be.

the batteries that are used in electric cars, and the process in which they are made are far worse for the environment than a gas powered car.. the prius is doing more to hurt the environment than help.

the government just likes to give the false impression that we are doing good, so they can reduce the cost of making money

But CAFE is an average, if they sell a lot of hybrids that get crazy high 'equivalent' mpg then they can still sell low volume sports cars that aren't very efficient. Obviously it's not a free pass to make 22mpg highway type setups but it's not as hopeless as you might think.

Message to Mazda,

I'd buy a wankle hybrid. In fact, I'll hold off buying any new car until your wankle hybrid is available.

Haha I wouldn't mind a tesla style, or cr-z style hybrid rotary.. but I'm sad to say I wouldn't be caught dead in a prius style car.

I'll stick to my 18mpg hwy!

Good news is that Mazda's strategy has been to improve fuel economy while keeping some style. So I doubt they will be confused for a prius any time soon.

Sadly, this setup relegates the rotary to generator duty and never puts power to the wheels directly. All the high-revving noises, powerband, tuning potential are gone. Basically you're buying a re-styled chevy volt where a portion of the purchase price goes to mazda's Rotary R&D dept. I'll still consider it though.
