recall seat belts
Ok so today i took my car to my local Mazda dealer in Gulfport, Mississippi.
i gave them the recall number and told them i was comming with my car.
i get thair and they say they have to do an inspection on my car to make sure it meets the recall requirments.
they pull the car in the shop pop the hood and are messing with it for about
15min.
they pull my car back out and tell me they have to order the parts and it will take about a week or 2 and they will call me back to bring my car in.
about 15min later they call me back and say "according to my records you car has already had the recall performed on it so we cant do it again."
i say "well the paper says the recall is as good for as long as the vehicle is running"
and they say "Mazda only pays for it one time then after that the owner has to pay for the other times"
then i ask him about how much would that cost then, he says "well jsut to do an inspection to find out exactly what the problem is its about $175"
then he tells me once the problem is found then i have to pay for parts and labor...
some one please tell me what to do.... i thougth the recall/waranty was good for LIFE! not just once...

your letter is pretty clear, it says in ADDITION to performing the recall the belts are warrantied for the life of the vehicle.
that reads that even when the belts are repaired for the first time there will be a LIFETIME warranty on the belts.
Just make more phone calls, when you get someone at Mazda ask them for a name or a number that your dealer can call to get paid. The dealer does not care if you pay or mazda pays, they just want to get paid by someone.

I had a similar round-around with the local Mazda here. The dealer gave me the same line of b.s. that they no longer honored the recall. I ended up contacting the Bureau of Automotive Repair AND the Better Business Bureau and I would say about 2 weeks I got a call back from the same dealer that they apparently "made a mistake" and "gladly" would take care of the seat belts at no charge. Most of these service writers and mechanics are a whole bunch of cry babies since it is a warranty issue and they don't get paid as much to get the repair done. Good luck

One more thing, as far as the recall being already done once and you having to pay to get it fix is another line of b.s. The warranty follows the car regardless of how many times it has been done or how many owners the car has had, as your letter states. Contact your local Better Business Bureau and see how fast the dealer will call you back.

You have to call Mazda North America to get through with them. I called the dealership, then called Mazda North America, then called the dealership back and the guy still said no, til I told him I called Mazda North America and he said I quote, "Oh here it is, I was looking at the wrong page." And I got them fixed.
