Oh man guys

Ok, before anyone goes too crazy, its not confirmed on the dyno...yet*. Which is why I have the ~ before it. I am waiting until my 99 Miata is ready and am going to go with both cars. However, judging by how fast the car is, it definately has atleast 210-215whp in it. The 4.9 final drive might be throwing the butt dyno off slightly. So 230 may be a slight stretch, but I will find out for sure soon

The motor was built and tuned by my close friend, who is actually a member on here. Username = Kahren

Here are the specs on the car:

-Rebuilt and Street Ported S5 N/A 13b
-Haltech E6k ECU
-550cc Primaries and secondaries
-Walbro 255 fuel pump
-RB Header
-Test Pipe
-RB Duals
-Custom Intake Manifold (made by Kahren)
-S1c custom intake
-Factory oil squirters removed (I premix with Castrol Super Outboard Plus)
-Rebuilt S4 Clutch LSD
-4.9 Final Drive
-ACT Clutch and PP
-Fidanza Flywheel
-Koyo Radiator
-Mazdaspeed differential and motor mounts.
-Manaray A-Tech Final Speed 17x8 +22 F and 17x9 +18 R
-Koni Yellows w/RB Springs (came on the donor chassis)
-De-Powered Rack
-A/C Deleted
-Battery relocated to passenger side bin.

I basically bought this car for my new daily driver to replace my stock 95 Civic SI that was stolen. I always wanted to buy an RX7 with a motor that Kahren built, so having my Civic stolen kinda gave me an excuse.

Dailying the car has been interesting to say the least. My Civic was like a Mercedes compared to this. I still haven't put a radio in it, it's loud, not as comfy, doesn't like running when cold, the heat sucks, the blower vent is stuck on defrost and floor, gas mileage sucks (combined 16ish mpg), etc. I have already had to replace a bunch of the stupid little things that go on older cars.

However, when the motor screams to 9000+ RPM I sort of forget about all the short comings. Plus, FR is my favorite drive train layout. The car is kind of like a bigger Miata, minus the weight balance. My FC is definately heavier in the rear. The best way I can describe the car at the limit is a cross between FR and MR.

I've heard of custom intakes netting a significantly large power gain. Thanks for posting the specs.

I would sure be interested if Kahren made another intake manifold and dyno tested it against a s5 or s4 intake and showed the gains.

He did 180 whp on a stock internal 6 port motor with his old intake manifold design:

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-rx-7-1986-1992-parts-194/fs-custom-intake-manifold-s4-s5-na-834592/

IIRC, he did somewhere around 187whp with his new design intake manifold on a stock internal 6 port.

I even posted on that thread months ago but forgot all about it. Thanks for the link. I hope he makes another of his new designs that could utilize the MAF.

Indeed it was.

I don't want to go into much detail but here's a rundown:

1. Saw cone in middle of track (in 20/20 hindsight, should have run over that) while entering a ~60mph sweeper right before heading on to the straight (with cooldown lap to follow, then I drive home no problem)

2. Tried to cut in front of it to avoid it, then all of a sudden my rear end swaps places with my front. There were no brakes involved, perhaps throttle lift might have been the cause who knows.

3. Rear right corner hit first, then sling-shot the front right into the k-rail

4. My brother and I walk away... Albeit with hurt feelings, and wallets.

I'm gonna bide my time now and look for a clean s5 shell to swap everything over, looks like most if not everything besides the body is salvageable.
