plasti dip gunmetal grey audi Attachment 478542 |
Why don't you just not paint it then? Instead of spending money on something you'll have to undo and looks like you just primered it.

I'd paint my FC their new matte purple just for shits and gigs.
Paint job = 2-4,000 Plastidip whole car + equipment = 400-500 The cool thing about plastidip is I've seen people paint over the plastidip with real paint that way they could eventually peel that off aswell. |
Well if anything, pick a colour, other than black. The plastic dip black looks like a crappy rattlecan job.

I actually rly like the gunmetal grey.. and I think ill just get a gallon and some thinner and my gun and go to town with it.. if it turns out shitty just rip tht shit off and keep adding money to the car jar. ill have maybe $200 in it, maybe less. so no harm done..
|
I think its fine cause u can really play with the colors and see what u like
|
i seen a plasti dipped s2k on facebook, looks decent

Here my bike
Doing a how car requires a spray gun. The larger surfaces will really show if done with a spray can. YouTube plasti dip your car on YouTube the guy haze the products for sale and some cool how to videos. |
Sorry for the grammar my phone is evil......

I was heavily considering it for a while, but got lucky and stumbled upon a great deal for body shop and paint from a new start up shop. I've spent lots of time reading in the dyc forums. I do not like the gun metal at all. If you are gonna dip, custom mix a color. A dark blue would amazing. 3:1 blue to black. And then you have to worry about your technique. It could get ugly really quick.
|
What the hell is plasti dip?
|
|
I'm gonna do it.
|
^^^ lol... mx-3 4evr im going to do the same and getting the gallon and some thinner, my car is charcoal grey so I dont think gunmetal will be so bad, might go white that s2k turned out very nice! for a removable color you cant beat it.. ill post some pics of my car in a bit, ill start dipping it this weekend!
|
What? You wanna use underseal for paint? That's gonna be delightful to remove when it's actual paint time.why wouldn't you use regular spray cans and aerosol clear if you are gonna go ghetto fabulous on it.

Attachment 478703 and last night with my buddy riding down the road I came to a dead stop he says dude wtf are you doin!? I told him something amazing just happened!Attachment 478702 lol 68000 miles on the clock kinda sad kinda happy, they grow up so quick!!:tear: |
I did my wheels black. My car is black so it looks pretty dope, but it doesn't last very long and isnt that durable.
It's really a waste of time if you ask me. Maybe on a show car that never saw the road? I would rather wrap it in vinyl. |
If I can get some in lil ole nz cheap enough might do my rwd 323 wagon army green. So weird I've never heard of this before being a panel beater

I did my wheels in red earlier this summer. It looked ok and was something different but it started to peel off the spokes so I took it off. It came off alright but I didn't get it thick enough in some areas because it doesn't want to come out of the little nooks in the wheels. There's still some on the fake three piece screws and in the lug nut holes that I'm too lazy/dont know how to get out... I would advise anyone who is planning on doing this to make sure not to get over spray on anything. If its thick enough to peel off its easy to remove (4-5 good coats), anything thinner is a pita to get off.

oh and it was $55 bucks for 7 tubes at home depot! 14 oz tubes.. so sprayer and all I got $110 in it..:) |
Sorry to bump this. Figured id post my car and 2 cents. did mine with rattlecans and plan to redo it and my s14 with the pro kit. its durable as fuh if you let it cure. Ive hit cones and ripped of my bumper with minimal damage to the dip.
http://m234.photobucket.com/albumvie....jpg.html?o=31 http://m234.photobucket.com/albumvie....jpg.html?o=21 shits fine. get some cans and test it on something first before you buy the pro kit. |
i fix link for you

Thanks for tryin barkz <3 My phone was being a pos. Heres the full pics.
Attachment 690896 Attachment 690897 Attachment 690898 All via rattlecans. Cant wait to order the pro kit and try out that nifty lookin sprayer. Pretty sure the FC is doable with 1.5 gallons or so give or take. Was reading up on a guy who purchased the pro kit for his FD and managed to get a perfecto paintjob with that amount. |

they actually get away quite a bit. I live in long beach, and i've seen plenty of people get away. shit my own dad has gotten away at least 15 times, although one time he was ripped to shreds and de-clothed under a house  and as a matter of a fact, today is the day he gets out! funny coincidence.

I may do this too.The body is not "good enough" to get 3k in paint.I would rather Plasti-dip and make it look better for the lower price.
