fixed!

it being the Odula ("Odura" when said with a japanese accent) lip replica, i'm sure they wanted to leave the gap. Boost Lee from Washington has the same lip.
rommel from the west just sold the same lip recently.

Shine Auto Project lip (FEED/Chargespeed replica)
http://www.odula.com/page/fc3s_l_spoirer.htm
the Odula lip
http://www.chargespeed.com/english/rx7-fc3s-e1.htm
the Chargespeed lip (looks very similar to FEED)
http://www.fujitaengineeringusa.com/fc3s.html
the FEED lip (much like the Charge Speed. almost thinking that Charge Speed is a replica company)
that being said, Odula and Corksport have the gap (for large FMIC applications and where most people cut the grill and bottom of the bumper), while Chargespeed, FEED, and Shine Auto has none.
i remember somebody selling the Charge Speed lip before... i'll try to find the thread sometime.

no gap looks funny on that red car, with the black you dont notice it as much, at least in those pictures.
When I closed the gap in the car a good 10 degrees hotter with a FMIC, on a car without the FMIC I dont think its a issue
whatever lip this is I see a gap, I can see the asphalt between the lip and the bumper
