as far as the spoiler being flamed...hasnt happened yet...so obviously one of a few possible scenarios happened....

People realized that the spoiler i bought is not a 10 dollar pep boy special
and is actually functional without sacrificing weight.

People actually like the spoiler and think the flat back on the vert will look nice broken up with something like that

People just dont care what spoiler i use and dont care

either way im happy..

to the 10th anny badge question all i asked was
IS THERE ANY INTEREST IN THIS???

in the pic of where i posted the crashed fc you can see the new fender i have pulled has a missing badge area....im trying to sell the badge if anyone wants it...if not im gonna have it powder coated black and use a white rx7 decal on it and put it on the hood

The problem is that a rear wing like that will just cause more drag and slow the car down.
To get usable downforce from such a wing, you'd need to be speeds that are illegal and downright dangerous.
Thus, on the street, it's cosmetic and not functional.

On top of that, it looks generic.
So, in essence, it's almost like slapping on a "Pep Boyz special" onto you car.
Cause the real GT style wings that are wind-tunnel and track tested from Japan are closer to US$1,000 each...
That pegs you as a "ricer".

I got some suggestions if you want a japanese inspired look.

Hey you should get some wide low offset rims
The wheels will make or break your car.

If you put some 17x7 or something it will look horrible. Something to be "flush" with teh fenders or near flush.

They dont have to be expensive.. just get nice size, 17x8 17x9 18X9 etc etc with a offset lower then 25.

i think your going to need to super slam that car to pull the GT wing look off.. it wont look good if its not low.

Serious guys stop bashin, dont want to discourage people from posting up thier mods on the forums, otherwise it would be a borring forum full of stock rx7s. Thanks for posting i wanna see how this turns out!

The sexiness has to be on the same level as the FD

Unless you can objectively prove that it's better for the car, it's all considered cosmetic.
Cosmetic, by definition, means...for looks only.
When it comes to looks, it's subjective.
I don't care how "cool" it looks, there is someone out there that's going to think it looks "ghey".

It think that nasty looking vert you posted pics of is "ghey".
Around here, speed bumps will rip out the front lip and the side skirts in a jiffy.
I think hippari stretch tires like that are "ghey".
Having gaudy graphics driving around like that is "ghey".

If you can prove it made 15.678hp more with those mods, or...it went 5.677mph faster with those mods, mods done for looks are going to be good or bad.
Why sugarcoat everything and tell someone only the positive things?
Criticism can help too...even if it's negative.

Bottom line, if you're happy with the mods, then more power to you.
If you're trying to build a car to make EVERYONE happy, then you're going to end up disappointed.

RETed, everything is cosmetic bro, wheels, body kit, even underhood parts are cosmetic... cooling panels are a joke as far as function goes. So a rear spoiler is iceing on the cake.

cooling panels are a joke? so is the bellypan a joke too? how can diverting extra air to your radiator be a joke? is overheating funny? and underhood things aren't JUST for cosmetics, they also have performance gains. The spoiler is just for looks and in looking "better" it slows the car down, there is your joke (performance wise) i am not bashing... to the op, its your car, do what you want. props for posting pics of your project, i hope it goes well.

show me proven fact that a cooling panal actually saves your car from overheating and i will stop saying its cosmetic, otherwise you got a crappy radiator or cooling system or a crappy fan shroud setup Take care of your car better.. I still want one though.

But you get the idea.. i meant no one needs a bodykit, wheels, etc.. its all cosmetic, since people think the wing will be more harm then good. Everything is cosmetic. Its like a girl with big breast, no one needs big breasts, just some people like em, and there are health risks involved with big breasts etc. just like this wing, he puts it on because he likes it, it may affect his performance, yes it will add drag/can reduce fuel millage, but probably wont be noticible.

exactly...anyway i was just posting a pic of the actual wheels i have...theyre not scratched theyre just really dirty from sitting in my storage....theyre 18x7 i believe...and the lip is about 1.5'' deep, they dont look bad and i got em off a friend for free so...yeah...just wondering though wouldnt the open mouth in the bottom of the kit bring extra air to the radiator....just a thought....also if you saw the original post you would see that i am upgrading my radiator as well....and hypertek said it best....the drag the spoiler will cause wont be noticable... either way yeah...heres another pic to help the imagination go on

edit:::the spoiler isnt even that high...the pedestals are only 3'' and the spoiler is like 1'' thick so its not as high as it looks
the mounts are angled back

i wasn't saying it saves cars from overheating, i didn't even say i have one, my set up is fine stock. How the hell can you say its purely cosmetic? you haven't answered my question, is the belly pan cosmetic? i don't know how you can even say that they don't do anything, when it is the exact same principle as the belly pan, which is proven to increase cooling efficiency up to 20%. i just dont see how you can compare and item purely for cosmetics to somehthing that is asthetically pleasing but also serves a purpose, and then go on to tell me my setup is inefficient and to take care of my car better. i wasn't even standing up for the cooling panel, I could care less. I don't like when people pull random factoids out of their asses, to discount something to divert attention away from the topic at hand, whether or not the spoiler is functional.

Wheels cosmetic?
Dude...

Almost all my wheels are lighter than the stock 1987 Turbo II wheels.
One set of 17's are a little over 16 lbs. each.
My GAB Sports are a little over 15lbs. each.
Less wheel weight -> less unsprung weight -> better suspension performance
Duh
Sometimes, going with a larger diameter wheel allows you to drop the tire aspect ratio, which gives you better tire response.
I don't do it the cheap *** way like hippari stretch.

I don't have a single "body kit" piece on my car.
I don't have a "cooling panel" either.
I don't have a rear spoiler on my car.

Oh god dude, please enough. Get over yourself. No one cares that your car is completely boring looking from the outside. Do you always have to get your 2 cents in can't you just leave it alone for once.

hell even my stock car got flamed

maybe your jealous that im actually doing something with my car...i dont know but whatever it is i think that RETed just spelled his handle wrong.....
its spelled retARDed

Edit....if you know how to drive and not go a million miles an hour and go sideways over bumps theyre fine...
235/40zr18 actually improve handling, reduced sidewall roll and widens the overall footprint of my tire...
i dont know what hippari stretch tires mean but yeah, look at stock cars...even rx8s have 18''s stock
no graphics on my car

hey sean..thanks man...your fd is sick....makes me proud that ive been under it....ill be seeing you soon heh

Ah...can't you think of something new to say?
All you're doing is repeating what other idiots have said already.

I wasn't even flaming you.
I was just trying to answer your questions on why you're attracting such negative comments.

If I wanted to flame you, it would've came out like this...
"What a waste of time to put on that ricer **** on your car. Who do you think you are? You think that piece of **** wing if going to make you go faster? NO. It's going to SLOW the car down and make you WASTE GAS. I guess you can't get it in your thick skull that you're ruining the performance of your car, cause you don't have a clue on what you are doing. No wonder you're getting negative comments, cause you're just doing this for looks, and it has nothing to do with performance."

That's how it MIGHT'VE come out, if I WANTED to flame you.

But I guess all you can do is try and insult me...
Which is already against the rules of this place...
Don't be surprised you get a warning for doing so...

And to all you idiots who cannot handle "constructive criticism"...I feel bad for you.
If you think you're going to go through life with just praises, you live in a very ignorant world.
I hope you either come from a very RICH or POWERFUL background, cause life is going to disappoint you.

rotary god>newbie. Dude, its your car. I wouldnt take anyone seriously. Everyone has an opinion on how our cars should look. But then again, if you cant take everyones answers, then why tell everyone your plans. Just remember that when your working on your car and you have no idea how to do something, someone like "retARDed" is going to be there to help you out with knowledge. Just my two cents. I think the vert will look nice with the kit and all. The wing is on you though. It will look nice, but with no gains. But hey, it might help with the chicks.

Agreed wheels and tyres are one of the most important components of a car and most people don't put enough time/money into their choices in that department. However i can also see Hypertek point.
In just about ever aspect of a car there are aftermarket parts that have been properly engineered to improve specific function and parts that are pure crap.

NjJay it's your car, keep posting up your mods and don't put any stock in negative comments unless you agree with them.

RETed wasnt flaming you man.

but yeh also IF i was you. Not saying i am and im NOT flaming you. I would sell those rims or trade them in for others, some people like them but they look like they belong on an suv or the "v.i.p" look. Unless you are going for that look.

ook..anyway...yeah thats cool...free wheels are always good i agree...and the wheels will probably only be on until i can save up for a set of rims like the Motegi RT5 or something 5 star, black with a polished lip (motegi isnt polished, but theyre nice)....i dont wanna run the kit with stock mesh's even though the bbs are nice as hell....got bored...weather was nice...started ripping it apart
