Ditch the red primer and get a self etching primer.

Lol too late I tested one rim came out better than before and they were free rims so no loss. For future tho what is the benefit of the self etching?? I felt like the primer could have been thicker.... But then again I am no expert.

The acid in the Self etching primer actually etches into the surface to help create a better bond.

Lets see some pics of the rims.

What paint and other products did you use and how'd they come out?
I'm in the same boat, want to paint a set of spare wheels and am trying to decide how to go about the whole thing.

1-pic is of the rim in question. i sanded it down a bit and were there was paint chipped off what was loose and sanded.

2- pic was when i was done sanding and what not then took some degreser and clead it(simple greeen). i heards paint thinner on a rag is good

3- pic i taped it of and gave 2 coats of primer

4-pic i sprayed with wheel paint. gave three coats

5- pic these are the last two wheels i did they previous pics are for my first attempt. also flip the rims after to get the spots you could see on the back side from the front.

Yea I actually installed some kyb agx struts in the rear and kyb gr2 stuts in the front with eibach springs. I got them for 275 already put together took me like 2 hours to do all four then finished those last two rims. I love having a day off..... Minus the snow and lack of garage
