Why? If i was just looking at a engineering stand point i wouldn't even bother with rx7s id probably start with like a Carerra GT or some random **** thats better engineered made in the 21st century. This is more favoritism towards the FCs and how a 80s car can still look very modern in relation of todays so called "super car style design fasion".

The only other car id consider doing a similar style kit is the Z31 300zx.

Anyway, no thoughts on the rear?...anyone?

I like the work you do, however be careful not to modernise it to much. It took one of the best designers in the world for Lotus to update their Esprit body so it could survive so long and in my oppinion even he didn't succeed completly. The thing is you gonna keep the upper part of the body stock, so your option for a nice flowing design are limited.

I like you skills tho,

Riz.

BTW: You will have to look at the enginering. You can't have the wheels so high in the body without drasticaly change the technical layout of pretty much everything.

looks awesome man! i really like your design.
also not a fan of the rear end so much... the front looks really nice however. I do think that you might get a little bit smoother of a profile however, if you make the doors wide as well.. or at least had an upper sill that kept the lines of the car flowing, with venting underneath.
as far as the rear.. i'm not too sure.. maybe something that really mimics the geometry and shapes of the front end. a good example that i could give is the way the new m3 looks front and rear.
anyways, looks great so far!

URG! every time i try to smoothen out the body lines it looks less and less stock.

I come to the conclusion that stock bodylines will need to be scrapped in favor of the the kit. I love the stock bodylines of the FC, however it only looks good on a stock FC. I am not going to give up yet, but im struggling here.

This is where I am at. As soon as i started doing smoother transitions between the larger arches of the wheels and the rest of the body, it started to bring some similarities of an FD. Which is not what i am am aiming for at all. When i tried to apply the body line of the FC, it just looked BAD. So i started to play with curves and vents. Even the shape of the window I am going to need to back track. a bit, but my creative mind just got the best of me and i came up with this. Version 3.

Would you rock it?

i 'd rock that kit lol
but when i look at the front end it reminds me of the NSX's from the super GT series. By all means its not bad and i like how you don't use the RE-amemiya fc-2000 lights. Its a different design all together which gives it a unique look. When i think about it, the fortune kit veilside makes is where this kit is heading as far as redesigning the car. the interior still retains the FC's look but just modernized (really modernized!). Now the rear end looks awesome but i would still leave the twin exhaust set-up just because the car came like that. the tail lights look great on how you kept the bar look which i didn't see coming but worked out great. the huge wheel arches in the front with the lower hood position mimic the revolution FD (GT300 FD). But most of the car still has the body lines of the FC which is good. All in all it's coming along fantastic

Right! thats where i was stuck, the body lines had such a large gap that creating a wheel arch that accepted 18x13 -20 wheels fitted with 350/45/18s makes it difficult for having a "bolt on" style aero. Ultimatly i have to sacrifice the stock form for more function.

I have looked at the engineering of the stock body, cutting the rear panels completely out is going to be obvious. But i am worried about the dynamics of the trailing arm when used in that fashion. Overall, when i initially started i already knew lots of modification to the chassy would need to be done but my goal was to limit the required mods for it to work, simplifying the process instead of going tube chassis. Mainly for marketing purposes. Thanks for the critiques!

Thnx, i dunno if i see rx8 headlights but everyone has their own interpretation . I was trying to go with lights to signify S4, and with a swooping flat style rear bumper much like how new cars today have. I take it your kind of an S5 tails kinda guy.

You have a good eye, much of the current rendition is inspired by the SuperGT cars / Fortune / NSX / REA RX7GT300. As well as new GT-R and LF-A. Initially i wanted to keep it simple and keep the FC-2000 bumper, but after doing some measurements ( I have my own FC2000 bumper) and looking at the work required. It would have made no difference weather to retain the FC2000 bumper or just go with something new. I chose the ladder.

I agree, i like my first version best. But this "evolution" this car seems to be having in terms of design is coming out with some interesting results. Thanx!

Need more ideas and critiques. I want to finish this design from the hearts and minds from true RX-7 owners and enthusiasts.

Ah... marketing purposes. I was just about to ask whetehr you want your car to look fast, or be fast. I guess it's the first since you're planning on selling the kit. A showcar kit will give you alot more possibilities to go wil with the designs. It's not about whetehr the car will be any better right? Just looks.

@ Concept-3: You know I admire your designing skills. It makes me wonder what you could have become if you went to scool to become a car designer. But I want my FC to look like a FC. Never been a fan of the Aston Martin look kits for 350Z's or the Porsche look for RX-7's that RE-A makes. Then again: I won't be a customer of you since looks is not where the priority of my car lies. Certainly not at this point. So you probably shouldn't listen to me too much, and just enjoy what your doing. I realy hope you get to a point where you are happy with the design, and it producable and sellable.

keep up the good work,

Riz.

no way man, of course id listen to you, and i totally understand your view on the FC. Which still doesn't make you any less of anyone else with their own likes or dislikes that come on here. Also id also try to brush away some confusion that when i meant "marketing standpoint". I didn't mean focusing on looks, but not over complicating the aero that it would take master body workers to make it work. Simplifying as much as i can of an already complicated idea is one of the goals of this project.

I also wonder what kind of designer i would be if i ever went to art school. Sadly art doesn't pay for the 80,000 debt i am in for being in a coma from a car accident. So i have gone back to school for other means in the health care business.

Thanks for the encouragement and critiques, maybe something might come up in the future that you might actually like that i made.

getting closer, im pretty content with the rear and front so i believe there will not be any more changes to those items, maybe small ones if any. However the rear quarter panel still needs work but overall the transitions are coming along better and I have retained bodylines similar to stock (not exact).

Enjoy Version 4
