maybe you could get yiour hands on one of those old Super-wide RE-amimya kits for the rear and modify it use S5 tails and just have to make the front quarters from scratch

texFCturboII 04-16-09 06:24 PM

And I just jizzed in my pants.

Chaotic_FC 04-16-09 06:29 PM

I think that the s5 tails would be awesome, but it would have to have a surrounding area that allows them to fit.

as an example:

I like how the tail lights are sunken in, allowing for you to give a more fitting shape to the rear.

leaning towards redesigning S4 style. In stock form IMO S5 tails look best, i have a set myself. But the S4 bar type might prove to have better functionality with the rest of the car. I am not to sure yet, but i am going to have to draw up some examples for you guys to choose from within the next few days and well see if the design proves to be decent.

Also while im at it i might as well design an interior specifically for the FC. Might open doors to producing aftermarket dashes.

After iv gotten all my shots, i am transforming the concept into 3D using either Maya or Vray, depending on how i feel. Ill try to prove complete 360 view of the car which will be viewable through youtube. Ill try to import the design into cad for accurate measurements

Once the demo is finalized and iv made all my revisions, its on to the annoying task of finding several individuals who are in the business of creating such a design. That is where i would need rx7clubs help. If no help comes up, it will stay conceptual until someone decides to buy the design rights from me.

What size is your tablet? Any suggestions on a less costly tablet? Not sure i can throw $300 at a tablet unless i can do some drawings to pay for it haha

Are you planning on running on doing a MR conversion? If not, those huge (fake)-intakes on the side would be terrible in real life.

yeah your right, the rear panels are overly large, the idea for rear ducting was for breaking and side air diffusion but after looking at it several times it would be kind of stupid to have a rear duct that large just for those purposes. I could have gone with smaller ducting.

thats a great job

very nice design

Grappler 04-19-09 11:58 PM

I think if you must keep stock tailights go with s5 otherwise I like the idea of making your own...

I must say though... that render is so nice...

Slevin_FD 04-22-09 05:35 PM

Fuck yea. I have found my body kit I think this would mostly be a matter of the fenders right? and rear bumper ???? Maybe I'm wrong. . either way,This must be made.
Second, anyway to make the doors functional.?????
Third. I looked around and I think the tail lights should be similar to the Audi R8 They are similar to the S5 lights but updated and with LED's, and the fenders are similar width wise.

I would think more people would comment on this.

how long till we can see the tail of this? i think the render is absolutely fantastic. i'm sure whatever you come up with will be the balls...

Big88chevy 05-01-09 02:02 AM

damn dude, that would be amazing.

Rear is in the works right now, redesigning the rear section without major body modifications is taking some time, i am also redoing some of the panels and making them more user friendly. In hopes a final version will emerge one day and be a workable and marketable kit.

Dltreezan 05-01-09 09:51 AM

thats awesome. I did something vaguely similar. Everybody said build it but we arent holding our breaths. Well I built it!! Best of luck.

VincenzoL 05-27-09 03:21 PM

Any updates? I haven't checked the 2nd Gen forum for so long, but this thread made me glad that I did!

WingsofWar 05-27-09 03:56 PM

Actually yeah, its taking me longer than i thought mainly because of the new tail light design to be fitted into the body without adjusting the actual shell. Ill post some samples today maybe.

Iv also adjusted the rear panels so they dont have that venturan tunnel but unfortunately every design i came up with required me to adjust the door as well. I tried to steer away from touching the doors but i failed. I just had to because the body lines started to become weird.

Again im still working on the other veiws and im about 40% done with the interior design. It will showcase a modern mazda style dash much similar to the RX8/MS3.

I am also going to try to import the design into 3D once the full concept is finalized.

Dltreezan 05-27-09 05:12 PM

sweet

it looks great but if you're still taking ideas on the tail lights, i would suggest to put both S4 and S5 together. like the Bar lense out in front with the circles behind it. But not to big when you make the circles. That is an awesome ass drawing though. What school do you go to by the way?

Funny story, I never took an art class in my life, i just kinda have a talent and self taught basically everything. My sisters the real artist in the family, i think currently shes trying to land a job at Pixar. I on the other hand am in school for my PsyD currently which isn't anywhere near the art industry. I draw and design as just a side hobby and do small commissions.

Back to the car, the tail light design is original. Which means the current S4/S5 block housings are non-existent. But the style of the lights iv designed will retain a sleeker bar design to give homage to S4 and fuse in inspirations with the rear section line style lights from Mazda Furai.

Oh okay cool. I'll like to see how that is gonna come out.
I really need to get back into drawing!

tbrshwankel 05-29-09 02:38 PM

As far as taillights... I'd go with the JDM FD if it were me personally... I don't think there's a better looking tallight made.

WingsofWar 08-20-09 04:40 PM

**UPDATE**

I trashed my original rear mock up, i think its just garbage and im ashamed to show anyone. The rear section is proving to be annoying seeing as how a widebody setup like this looks horrible with stock S4/S5 taillights. But what i have tried to accomplish is allowing the stock taillight positioning and just redo a variation of S4 housings and lenses. So they bolt up without cutting or modifying the body. You can also kinda see that the opening passage for the rear duct brake has shrunk and a full upper door panel has been added to flow the body lines.

http://i29.tinypic.com/1zxqo2v.jpg

I tried using some of the features from the furai but they all turned into busts, the center exhaust exit was a trial and even tried adding the rotor muffler. Im leaning towards no on a single exit centered exhaust.

Unfortunately even with this variation i am still not happy with it, and many things are subject to change. I have talked with several individuals about producing a prototype kit and its looking good. However a mold will be done when i am satisfied with it and all the dimensions have been measured. Probably wont see any real work until this winter.

I am still looking for more ideas and inspiration. I was hoping more feedback in this thread.
