I though you went and built it. Any plans of starting the kit?
|
Actually yeah, main reason why i did this render because i needed an idea of how an extremely wide panels would look on the FC. I am trying to get together some people at the local community college that need a project that are in welding, fiberglassing, metal programs. Just to see who is interested. If not, id just do it myself, but im currently in school and looking for a job so i cant spend to much time on fabbing up the kit.
I am actually not that serious about it at this point until i can get some other projects done first. OR find a job and save up some cash for materials. |
Got a rear shot? :)
I must say, it looks good. |
workin on the rear shot now, might be a few days till its done tho
|
sweet.. make me wanna battle you graphics style hahaha..
I just sent out one of my pics to be done as a poster, you should consider that too. |
Nice one mate looks great!
|
Damn that looks awesome
|
That thing is awesome.
|
nice.
|
Looks great!
My only suggestion is to soften the edges from the top of the fender to its side. I'm not a big fan of the sharp edges on many of the kits as they don't flow well with the rest of the cars lines. The RE front bumper you rendered has the nice rounded transition I'm talking about...just continue that. |

Looks great and it's my new wallpaper!
|
Very nice!
|
Wow...that looks amazing...I really like how you did the door vent area...
|
I like it, but kill the dipped ends on the rear wing.
Also with a kit that wide your going to need 355's or something stupid to full the rears. Ive got 285's under my standard 30mm Widebody, yours is going to be 150mm+ |
This is like a Super GT concept if they still ran the FC in teh 300 class. I can see resemblance to the FD + NSX cars in this hahah
Are you using a graphics tablet or just mouse? i been wanting to try out a tablet. |

The dippped side generators on the wing was a difficult choice for me, typically i hate that design but actually does have a function vs short surface generators. My inspiration for the dip was taken from DTM class Mercedes and a highwing Mclaren F1. I just figured the FC might benefit from it more without really any sort of testing. Your 30mm wide panels is child's play compared to how much wider these GTC class cars panels are. Here are a few references and examples i used. http://www.marcoapicella.com/2004/im...picella-08.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...mg437816at.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...r/100_4882.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...r/100_4881.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...0165509211.jpg |
omg that NSX is absolutely beautiful.
|
This thread wins.
Holy shit. I love that car, especially the wing. Good taste, style, function, presentation! That's just awesome. GOOD JOB! |
QUESTION!!!!
i am in the process of mocking up the rear section shot, and i need to know. should i keep the S4/S5 tail lights? or come up with a completely new light design? If i do go with new lights, would you rather see bars or circles? If you have have ideas please feel free to share along with references if you can provide. |
s5 for sure
|
With all the custom work and the usage of circles for the side indicator and turn signals...maybe some circular LED's like Revolution's time attack FD would look good...
|
no way. keep the tails true to the roots. s4 ftmfw
|
I think you should completely redo the tails. Here you have this monster widebody kit all modern and concepty.......to throw s4 or5 tails in might be out of place.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferra...spagenameZWDVW tails should be on some scuderia 430 shit. (yeah i get my pictures from ebay...just like everything else) But......... maybe if you did 3 versions of the ass end s4,s5 and moddedcrazy......then conducted a poll. I dont know anything about designing graphics and 3 versions might be a rediculous amount of work...............what ever you choose, i am sure it will be tasteful like the rest of your design. john ny |
maybe you could get yiour hands on one of those old Super-wide RE-amimya kits for the rear and modify it use S5 tails and just have to make the front quarters from scratch
|
And I just jizzed in my pants.
|
I think that the s5 tails would be awesome, but it would have to have a surrounding area that allows them to fit.
as an example: I like how the tail lights are sunken in, allowing for you to give a more fitting shape to the rear. http://www.autocult.com.au/img/gallery/997GT3231.jpg |
leaning towards redesigning S4 style. In stock form IMO S5 tails look best, i have a set myself. But the S4 bar type might prove to have better functionality with the rest of the car. I am not to sure yet, but i am going to have to draw up some examples for you guys to choose from within the next few days and well see if the design proves to be decent.
Also while im at it i might as well design an interior specifically for the FC. Might open doors to producing aftermarket dashes. After iv gotten all my shots, i am transforming the concept into 3D using either Maya or Vray, depending on how i feel. Ill try to prove complete 360 view of the car which will be viewable through youtube. Ill try to import the design into cad for accurate measurements Once the demo is finalized and iv made all my revisions, its on to the annoying task of finding several individuals who are in the business of creating such a design. That is where i would need rx7clubs help. If no help comes up, it will stay conceptual until someone decides to buy the design rights from me. |

Hahaha i knew you would spot the NSX in there somewhere! Id think the FD in the picture would also be more obvious. Dude you need to use a tablet, its the only way to go, i am using a Wacom Intuos 3, and photoshop CS4.

Are you planning on running on doing a MR conversion? If not, those huge (fake)-intakes on the side would be terrible in real life.

thats a great job
very nice design |
I think if you must keep stock tailights go with s5 otherwise I like the idea of making your own...
I must say though... that render is so nice... |
Fuck yea. I have found my body kit I think this would mostly be a matter of the fenders right? and rear bumper ???? Maybe I'm wrong. . either way,This must be made.
Second, anyway to make the doors functional.????? Third. I looked around and I think the tail lights should be similar to the Audi R8 They are similar to the S5 lights but updated and with LED's, and the fenders are similar width wise. http://www.caradvice.com.au/wp-conte...udir8rear2.jpg |
If you build it they will com...
|
I would think more people would comment on this.
|
how long till we can see the tail of this? i think the render is absolutely fantastic. i'm sure whatever you come up with will be the balls...
|
damn dude, that would be amazing.

thats awesome. I did something vaguely similar. Everybody said build it but we arent holding our breaths. Well I built it!! Best of luck.
|
Any updates? I haven't checked the 2nd Gen forum for so long, but this thread made me glad that I did!
|
Actually yeah, its taking me longer than i thought mainly because of the new tail light design to be fitted into the body without adjusting the actual shell. Ill post some samples today maybe.
Iv also adjusted the rear panels so they dont have that venturan tunnel but unfortunately every design i came up with required me to adjust the door as well. I tried to steer away from touching the doors but i failed. I just had to because the body lines started to become weird. Again im still working on the other veiws and im about 40% done with the interior design. It will showcase a modern mazda style dash much similar to the RX8/MS3. I am also going to try to import the design into 3D once the full concept is finalized. |
sweet

it looks great but if you're still taking ideas on the tail lights, i would suggest to put both S4 and S5 together. like the Bar lense out in front with the circles behind it. But not to big when you make the circles. That is an awesome ass drawing though. What school do you go to by the way?

Back to the car, the tail light design is original. Which means the current S4/S5 block housings are non-existent. But the style of the lights iv designed will retain a sleeker bar design to give homage to S4 and fuse in inspirations with the rear section line style lights from Mazda Furai. |

Funny story, I never took an art class in my life, i just kinda have a talent and self taught basically everything. My sisters the real artist in the family, i think currently shes trying to land a job at Pixar. I on the other hand am in school for my PsyD currently which isn't anywhere near the art industry. I draw and design as just a side hobby and do small commissions.

As far as taillights... I'd go with the JDM FD if it were me personally... I don't think there's a better looking tallight made.

**UPDATE**
I trashed my original rear mock up, i think its just garbage and im ashamed to show anyone. The rear section is proving to be annoying seeing as how a widebody setup like this looks horrible with stock S4/S5 taillights. But what i have tried to accomplish is allowing the stock taillight positioning and just redo a variation of S4 housings and lenses. So they bolt up without cutting or modifying the body. You can also kinda see that the opening passage for the rear duct brake has shrunk and a full upper door panel has been added to flow the body lines. http://i29.tinypic.com/1zxqo2v.jpg I tried using some of the features from the furai but they all turned into busts, the center exhaust exit was a trial and even tried adding the rotor muffler. Im leaning towards no on a single exit centered exhaust. Unfortunately even with this variation i am still not happy with it, and many things are subject to change. I have talked with several individuals about producing a prototype kit and its looking good. However a mold will be done when i am satisfied with it and all the dimensions have been measured. Probably wont see any real work until this winter. I am still looking for more ideas and inspiration. I was hoping more feedback in this thread. |
