congrats and thanks for saving another 7. Please take your time and I don't think I need to tell you to take lots of pictures. Black FCs are teh sexiest 7's out there ( I am biased though)

Little more chipping away at the engine bay paint..

Cleaning up the turbo, and BOV, for got to take before pics...

I will be cleaning anything that got oxidized from sitting or anything that needs to be painted. Odds and ends, replacing vaccum lines ect...

After the bay is done being painted I will start working on the SS brake lines then who knows... I hope to have the motor in very very soon....

Decided to yank the dash to see how bad redneck boy screwed it up... And it looks like I will have to replace it, But I will try to repair it first... I know it seems like I am hopping around a bit but it was late last night and I didn't want to **** of the neighbors with the air compressor and my paint stripping... lol

I also believe I need the dash off to get to the drivers side harness I need it out of the engine bay so I can finish stripping, prepping and paint the darn thing already.....

I know its not a lot of progress but It's getting there. Just started a new job and haven't had as much time...

Oh and I yanked the Harness from the the Right side...

Soon, at this point I still need this to be a roller. And unless there is some way to take the subframe off and keep the car rolling It will have to wait. I want to take it off and strip it just like I have done with the bay. Again the only areas of rust on this car at all is the sunroof, and where the master cylinder was leaking. Which I have gotten cleaned up and will be getting some navel jelly on to finish the rust stop process. then sand, primer and paint.

Ok so at the Cocoa meet I was talking to the guys and I was discussing how I have a lack of compression on the front rotor due possibly to it sitting and with the motor on a pallet and not in a car running how to go about freeing it up if it is indeed a stuck seal or spring and SeaFoam came up. So i went and bought some SeaFoam Deep Creep

And as The guy with the 81 Wide body, anyone know his name? said I pulled the plugs and filled and filled and filled. even filled the exhaust side and threw some in the intake for craps and giggles. No how long do I need to leave it in for before cranking it again? Longer the better or what?

Well....

Just a brief or I am attempting to be brief, run down of recent events.. As you will notice all my wonderful pics and things are gone... I had an issue with my hosting company. And then they wanted 150 bucks to restore the data. I refused and now it is gone.... So I am rebuilding that slowly but surely.

I have As of this week filed for a divorce and have also started reevaluating my build out. So here is the skinny... I am trading my JDM TII motor I bought for a running Vert, Not a bad trade. I am selling my truck and my Civic yea yea I know don't sell the civic blah blah blah... I will upgrade and reliability mod the vert as much as possible with those funds. Or I may just swap everything from the vert to my chasis we shall see.. The main goal here is I will be doing one of two things. 1 will be to clean out my garage because with the divorce the house is being sold, and I am not paying 100 + dollars of storage a month for a chasis I paid 400 bucks for so I will need to get rid of one of the 7's either the vert shell after I yank everything or my chasis. I have a lot more knowledge now than when I first started and I still have much to learn but I jumped the gun on a lot of stuff on my project and I'm thinking it will be better to start at the drawing board.

So I am still very ambitious about this project , but I also have to weigh out the pros and cons. I have seen running tii's sell for what I have into this thing already. So again I'm still here still doing a 7 project just working things a little different. A lot more planning before spending and we shall see... At this point I am not selling anything so Don't ask.. lol All the Tii stuff is going in to an 85 corolla... You PR folks love those cars... But hey it's gonna be a sweet build out. I look forward to letting the dust of my life settle and having some fun again!

Damn, that 'vert looks to be in rough shape. Is is just me, or does it seem like you really only see 1988 RX-7 convertibles? I never see or hear about s5 verts...

I was thinking the same thing when I asked what year it was...

As for its shape, its really not too bad. body wise just a couple dents on the drivers side as you can see Other than that it's pretty clean.

If you look at the sales numbers, S4's were sold in much greater numbers than S5's. The same holds true with verts.

Well, yeah, the body doesn't look so bad; I guess I just kind of zeroed in on the top. For some reason, mine looks like someone went up and down both sides and beat it with a ball peen hammer. I can't understand how it got bashed so many times in parking lots over its lifetime. Those people suck.

I suppose that the S4s did sell better, but the convertible was only produced for one year during the end of the S4's run, but they kept making the convertible all the way until 1991, right? That would mean they had quite a few more years to make more S5 'verts in total, but it would seem that it didn't quite work that way.

I like my 'vert, but I am very seriously looking at purchasing a coupe so I can transfer all the go-fast parts from my 'vert over to a more performance-oriented platform. Ah, dreams...

Yeah we will see... I've never had a convertible anything. And I am not a HUGE fan of them, but I'm gonna give it a shot. I will def. be geting some sort of roll bar with the way I drive, if I keep it. If not I will soon be selling a vert roller... Although I am keeping the rims. And If i keep it it will be getting my tii hood, but who knows. I have the racing beat header in my trunk of my civic at the moment. You could really hurt some one with that thing...

Convertible sales numbers:

1988 ---- 7,002
1989 ---- 4,032
1990 ---- 3,535
1991 ---- 3,151
1992 ---- 501

D'oh, you were right... S5 verts should be more common.
