Yeah, but your paint jobs are wet all the time and anything looks good when wet.

Except Rosie O'Donnell.

Look, I'm listening to someone who does it for a living, and who has been for a good 30 years. I don't understand why that makes it wrong. But hey, it's a free forum so complain to your heart's content.

Moving on, I'm finally managing to post another update. It's finally going into primer tomorrow morning, and should be ready to sand out and shoot another batch by the afternoon.

So, stupid me broke the wing trying to get it off. Thankfully it's fixable and is now put back together with bumper repair.

Got some spiderwebs going on in the rear bumper from, well, bumping into my truck ha.

This always makes me laugh a little bit.

All smooth and ready for primer. Yesss.

Hood got primed a little ahead of schedule, but man does it look a lot better already.

because there is no money in cars. But all the pictures I put up are dry, dont know what the wet comment was about. You think car owners are picky try a boat that is worth alot more money. The company that I now own has been around since 1964 so I think we do something right.

Look Bob- you can sand however you wish, if a guy you say has been in the business 30 years says to sand it with 1000 grit then I dont know what to tell you, show me a single paint that its tech sheet say to use 1000 grit and I will fly there and paint that thing myself. Its TOO fine, its not good for proper adhesion, but do as you please.

I am going to have to agree with this guy, I painted cars for BMW, Chevy, and Toyota and trust us 1000 is way to fine, I would say the highest should be 600 I wouldnt even go that far, I go to 400 and you can tell the difference.. Listen to us man

Like I said it is a seldom occasion where 1000 was used and my car is not going to be the case. However, 800 has always worked for me and produces great results. I'm not trying to dispute anyone, I'm just saying this is what I do and was taught to do. If you guys have had problems in the past, fine but from what I have seen there has never been a problem.

how much have you seen Bob?

I have never had a problem, this is what I, and others ( 3-4 people in this thread total ) are trying to stress to you.
I HAVE had to repair jobs that once you tape them the paint comes off with the tape, once you start sanding them the paint comes off in sheets, nightmare jobs from improper sanding.

Good luck with your project, you obviously have a handle on it.
