Ya I thought I could finish my full rebuild and swap in about 6 months, its been a little over 9 now I think, maybe 10. If you could finish this it would be sick man, all I can say is good luck and I sure hope you get it. If not, then at least let us know how things go after and what you have left

Project down, but not out
Engine was a joke, I watched the workers take the engine out of their truck, they dropped it, Then i arranged the importer to take it back. I haven't been posting because I've been working. I'm gonna have to stay N/A and build a TII proper. So I've been cleaning and inspecting all my non-turbo stuff(replacing all soft stuff). I really don't want to put my high mileage N/A in, but I have to(its a tank). A friend said that my tranny needs a clutch release bearing, and its still gonna whine in every gear, but will buy me time to get a Tii drivetrain. Sorry, for no pics, I stepped on my camera. New camera on the way also.
So, you guys were right about timing. All this engine BS wasted it. Don't worry if you care about me, I got rides. My new house blows because of its location(borderline bum-**** nowhere). All the UPS and FEDEX(i see the arrow) trucks can't make my narrow turn, and almost tip everytime into the ditch, in and out of my road.
Exterior is primed, Engine bay is primed. The bottom is sanded and I'm waiting on my Subframe bushings. I was gonna make a booth, but it was not windy and I did it on concrete.
In case you were wondering, I primed with Matrix MP-2k. Your supposed to mix it 4:1:1, but I mix 4:1 because it sprays a little more heavy. I did 7 coats(because its a rx7, i'd probably do 240 if it was a 240sx) on the outside and engine bay. The place were I get my stuff didn't have any poly primer, so I just made due.
I guess I'll go drive my dream FC in forza. My dream car will be slow, but will take turns like a beast!
P.S. sending back engines to imports cost almost half than what you paid, My budget is now $1500, Had to cancel power FC, and resort to Fabbing up my own exhaust ,headers, and downpipe.
I think I covered my progress so far.

Juiceh's thread went from BAMF to ultimate badass. I'm going for stock(now true stock) with a little protection. I'm not a baller yet to do that.

I ordered a new camera, I still have my back-up stash, but thats for a catastrophe like, OMG! The horror! Pulsation dampener goes, seals fly, basically unfixable period! I have nothing to fall back on; WHY!!!!.
The reason importing was so expensive, was because I called and asked for the best they could find and have it here ASAP(less than 2 days). To have it taken back, I had to pay 20% of shipping and 20% restocking fee. They really cleaned up the engine though.
I'm not letting greed blind me, if I spend less, that is more into my back-up stash. I guess its easier to do some things by yourself, why should I have to spend $400 on a shiny pipe when I have the capability to make it myself?

what happened
TorontoJDM, They know their stuff, they don't just talk you into buying the engine, they transfer you to someone who knows about the engine, and they e-mail you progress. They were supposed to e-mail me pictures before its shipped, but they most of overlooked me. 30 day start-up warrenty, 30 day warranty after startup warrenty(void if you do it yourself, but you can negotiate it, they understand if dealerships and shops don't know about rotaries) Also, they called me on the date it was to arrive(yesterday). I'd recommend them, Osaka is about the same, but they excel in nissan JDM engines(SR, RB, VG etc)
To help picture it, it was on a pallet, its like if you drop buttered bread, it fell top first. Instead of pulling out the ramp like I suggested, they were like,"Nah, we can handle it". So, Truck floor is at least 5 feet up, these two dudes were over 6'2", So they easily lifted over their heads, I said wow, than they lost their balance; it just slide down to the ground. Most of the stuff in the truck was furniture (except this really cool racecar smoker!), so you could see were their experience of lifting stuff over their heads came from. They didn't get a tip.
The inter-coolers fins were smashed almost flat and bent. The front cover was chipped, The transmission didn't line-up with the engine anymore. Shifter bent a little. Alternator brackets broke in half, power-steering was about the same, Pulleys broken. The turbo stopped it from rocking, it was okay though.
Not related: ECU was caved in on one side(not from accident), harness looked as though a rat went to town on it. I told the importer service center about it, its covered, they are supposed to have it tomorrow.

He wasn't planning to. He was going to get a PFC.
Has anyone ever looked at how much carriers cost when you try to get something like a engine rushed to you?
If you paid for the motor, paid to have expedited shipping service, and let them drop it in front of you, I'm still confused why you have to pay a restocking fee. Their not going to re-stock a broken motor (I hope). The carrier should be paying for the replacement and better overnight that sh*t.

I got my N/A engine to crank, OMP is covered in oil. I've been debating my next steps forward. I may just make a N/A, or still go turbo, I donno. N/A is cheaper, but turbo is pretty rad. Time will tell.
I painted my engine bay with the OEM blue(4:1,3 coats base 2 thin coats clear, I am changing my mind on going blue on the outside, something about matte colors has the "I can take on anything" look that I like. I don't know about doing kits because when I think about tuning, I see it as the car must look as it performs, like if you make 400hp, the car looks badass, if you make 190hp, its mild.
Transmission has more problems than age(gears, bearings, seals). So, I am thinking of swapping everything but the engine to Turbo parts, shimming the LSD(after rebuilding it) and stiffing the body more than just bushings and lowering springs(you need more than just coilovers for proper handling). Than build-up an engine over time that I know will be almost bulletproof. I like to do things fast, but the engine is going to take awhile.
Yeah, I had a huge negotiation about paying for restocking a broken engine, But the import company contacted the shipping agency and gave me my money for shipping, which was a plus. Also, I always had my time-frame in my mind when buying stuff, so shipping was very expensive on a bunch of things to get them a day, or two days to my house.
I'll take pics when I get my camera.

When I was 17 I did my S5 JSpec into S4 swap by myself in a month. It was/is my daily. But I also had many months of research behind that.
You have to set a resonable time limit for a project of that size. remember this isnt a lego kit where if you just put all the pieces together it will work right.

Okay, I'm not done. To sum it up, I basically took out the engine, painted, and put the engine back in, changed the bushings, and double checked my work. I'm really leaning towards staying non turbo because its so simple to keep reliable(for me). And I can find a bunch of N/A engines around OKC. I don't know, time will tell. This sucks, I felt that I had something going, but it all failed.

Be kind, Redline!
Fail(: I feed on teh fail
Lesson learned: Set realistic goals!
I had a little bet to myself that i would get my 91 in perfect condition before the end of summer which meant figuring out why it starts every once in a new moon, full interior swap, new rims, new paint, and most of all build some custom cup holders but the car is currently sitting in my brothers drive way half primed and the interior is messed up &+ the car hasn't turned on in about a month :/
