Arrow Lol Raleigh Craigslist strikes again. $15,000 for an FC. No typo ;)

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/1976856531.html

For sale - 1991 Mazda rx7. I originally had no intention of selling this vehicle, and I do not want to. However, my financial situation requires it, and it is a second vehicle so I must part with it. The asking price is $15,000 OR best offer. I would possibly be open to trades, let me know what you have. Please do not even call if you intend to offer 6, 7, 8k or anything low. I will hang up on you.

The motor in the vehicle has a freshly rebuilt 13b. naturally aspirated. (non turbo). The motor is bridgeported, on the primary and secondary ports. The Auxilary ports (5th and 6th) are not ported. The car is equipped with Full Racing Beat exhaust system, headers back. Corksport intake, hks filter. Atkins Rotary Apex Seals - Two Piece. Atkins Rotary Corner Seals with 3rd Gen RX7 springs. Atkins Rotary Side Seals, Oil Control Rings and Gasket set. New Oil Pump Chain. Pineapple Racing EGR block-off plate and crank angle cover plate. Six Port Actuators were removed. VDI actuator was removed and set to high RPM setting. ACT Xtreme Duty Pressure Plate. Exedy Street Clutch Plate - Sprung. SR Motorsports Lightweight Flywheel. Racing Beat Steel Braided Oil Lines. Every gasket and seal in the engine was brand new. Koyo Radiator w Electric fan. The car is lowered, sitting on lightweight15inch BBS rims (originally on rx7 convertible), wrapped in brand new BF Goodrich's. Has a short shifter. many other things as well.... such as cross drilled and slotted rotors, rx-8 calipers and hawk pads. In parts alone, over $25,000 has been invested in the car since the rebuild.

The car is running a Haltech p1000 engine management system, tuned by Six Sigma Dyno Services, located in Concord, NC.

All pictures below are of the motor after rebuild, and once installed in the engine bay.

THE MOTOR AND ALL ABOVE LISTED COMPONENTS WERE INSTALLED AT THE SAME TIME AND CURRENTLY HAVE ONLY 1,400 MILES ON THEM! Car is virtually brand new. The body has 127,000 miles on it. It is white in color. Could use a paintjob, but is not unsightly.

my buddy originally built this car with a friend of his that died and he finished it and sold it immediately after.

All those mods are mods Yue Yue and I did. The only thing different was I was running stock ECU with an AFC Neo with different injectors. It ran pretty well but he did do the right thing with a stand alone.

I wish he wasn't an unreasonable crazy. I'd buy it back.

That $5,000 tag would include a fully working AC system too. Probably worth $3,000 in the condition it's in. I wonder what HE paid for it. It's not the guy I sold it to.

I sent the guy a text. I'm wondering what his thinking is. Maybe he doesn't realize the real value of the car? Maybe he's hearing people tell him what Gen 3's are worth or something I dunno. I'd love to buy it back. Um...We need to get down to the 3 range and I don't know how that's gonna happen.

It's me, it's me, it's Phillip ...King... that didn't rhyme. Hey I texted the guy who's selling the car. He said he didn't have internet and his friend posted it. Maybe that's why it's all skewed. I dunno.

He then said he didn't really want to sell it. Then talked about driving down to RM one day. It'd be cool to check it out. He said it did about 190 WHP. Which....I guess could be feasible with the way we built it. It'd be in the RX8 range if that's the case. Lighter but taller gears. Who knows? I'd still like to see it again.

I always wonder when I see ads like these..... Is the person a complete tool and is oblivious to what he/she is selling? Or are they hoping to catch a tool whose completely obvious about cars and sell it to them???

Well, if I really didn't want to sell my car but was inexplicably compelled to place a Craigslist ad anyway, pricing it at 15K would be exactly what I'd do.
Win/win, no matter the outcome.

And yes, you probably could bargain me down to $14.5K, so I'm not a complete tool.

Some people don't grasp the idea that with an old car, you will never ever recover the tiniest fraction of what you have invested in it. The value is determined by what other similar cars sell for and what buyers are willing to pay. Sounds like a nice setup, but nobody's going to pay more than $4000-5000 for any NA. Especially one that needs paint. He's not going to have to worry about having to hang up on people calling to offer him "6, 7 or 8" thousand dollars.

Someone should sent this thread to the guy selling it. Maybe then he will understand an n/a isn't worth what hes asking unless it was a 3 or 4 rotor...

And rx-8 caliper conversion? I highly doubt that.

My conclusion is that people just like to say their car is for sale, but don't really care to sell it.

My financial situation requires me to sell my car. But $1k for my POS isn't going to correct anything. Asking $15k and not selling it doesn't change anything, either.

.....or maybe he's just figured out a better way to show off his setup?

I wonder if he will trade for my scooter? (not scoot)

It looks nice... but 15000$ can get me almost a new car. Or a sick FD turboz.
