would be easy someone should do it :icon_tup:

finishline 04-19-08 07:17 PM

do it for us. :icon16:

SouthSideSlider 04-19-08 07:19 PM

i might try it as i need to redo my FTps. but firstim woking on a new headlight setup

Hypertek 04-19-08 07:22 PM

i might try it.. they cheap enough..My FTP lense when i first got em, i had to refinish em/take em apart to clean em since i got em for a junk yard, so i already know how to open em...

Figure get the led clusters, open up the FTP lense, drill a hole for the wires to go out, then glue the led strip via adhesive sealant glue, then seal up the hole wiht the wires passing through with the glue as well. Then wire them up. =p

I just used their smaller cluster for license plate lights , so its getting addicting playing around with these =p

Thanks for the idea!!! MUHAHAHAH
Me and my friend have a bunch of soder, circuit board, and a shit ton of time... lol so im gonna make some once we get like 50 led's.....

ilia 04-20-08 05:38 AM

Oh god, that'd be so bangin.

I really need to start doing LED lights on my car.

Hypertek 04-20-08 06:01 AM

all you need to do is buy the amount of led you want and buy the same amount of resistors acording to the color of led. drill holes that are perfect for the led. the led have edges on them. you can press in the led to the hole and have it not push all the way threw. then you wire up like shown below. the bare pegs get a ground. the red wire is obiously a power sorce.

i did this as my first LED project. i need to go back in and put more led in there so it doesnt look so "wierd" and "ricey" but hell . it was a try .. and it turned out great

i broke one led on the passager side so it does not light up.... so there is a big gap. other then that. if i were to do this again i'd put 3 times as many led and not nessasaraly the more expencive "supre bright"

again this is a trial and error project. not to look good. but just to try and see if i could do it. honestly i really dont like how they look right now.

I'd just pay the 9-12 bucks for the light rail. You're spending a few bucks on LED's and resistors anyways.

CarzArKoo1 04-20-08 12:41 PM

make it look like the Audi S5 or R8, very coo!

well i spent less then 10$ on 10 led and 10 resistor at a local shop. online they are cheeper, http://www.oznium.com/ but i didnt want to wait. i wanted to try it right away.

and if any led goes out. because its not all inline with one resistor. you can easily troubleshoot and replace one led instead of not knowing what is wrong where. depending on how its wired.

:)

ATRON3000 04-20-08 12:54 PM

I put driving lights in my FTP's to use instead of those ugly yellow pop-ups. I wish led's were bright enuff to light up the road effectively.

dean23 04-20-08 01:17 PM

show a pic of those driving lights. i was thinin about doing something like that but wanted to see some pics first.

thanks for your input fc3schick, im still planing to do the 3rd brake light so making my own might do.. gotta wait til the electronics warehouse by me opens up tomarrow =p

For the ftp id probably go with the white leds

flipside27 04-20-08 04:22 PM

i normally don't like Light mods
but that shit is fly as hell!:icon_tup:
great job!

Hypertek 04-20-08 07:13 PM

quick photoshop

it would obiously look different night....

im thinking 2 row? or maybe 3

My bottom bumper lights wont be on since they are jdm, they only flash.

ATRON3000 04-20-08 11:02 PM

What kind of bumper/lip is that... I want one... and where'd you get those clear turning lenses? I want some of those too... And I'm diggin that flat black paint too

Hypertek 04-20-08 11:15 PM

kit is gp sport, typically common bodykit, tons of copies.
the bumper lights are stock, today i took em apart and removed the orange lense. :icon_tup:

Bama420 04-20-08 11:26 PM

Hyper, you know I love you right?

No, not seriously. I love your brain.

MaczPayne 04-20-08 11:31 PM

I think they would look great with a denser packing of LED's. If the 2 rows of LED's are bright enough, then the density wouldn't matter.

Huh? Wha? took apart and removed the orange? so in the pic there is no lens there? My mind is just making up the clear lens I think I see?

BklynRX7 04-21-08 02:22 AM

I have considered doign this for a long time with seperate LEDS but never got around to it, but now that I see how cheap the premade rails are Im going to do it this week or next.

I think i have jdm pieces, there is a orange lense inside the housing that gives the color... I took the housing apart and removed the orange lense.
