KS i guess it is an addiction.

Well... I picked up another rx7 today. Technically that makes me have 5, although i'll be down to 3 by the end of the week. I picked up a 1988 GXL. I acutally traded an iPhone that i bought for $200. It wouldn't start or even crank, the starter was frozen or something, so on the tow home (2 blocks away) ended up just dumping the clutch on a coast and got it started. Smoked something feirce but took it down a back road and no more smoke. I am pretty sure it needs a clutch or at the least a throw out bearing, while not in gear.. idling if I push the clutch in it dies. :/ but i know its a project but it will most likely be a quick fix (not half-assed just important things) to make it a daily driver. I will try to post some pics tomorrow and maybe post an update on issues haha.

Oh, and since its S4 and has the S4 Tails.. I was thinking of painting them like the 10AE lights.. the surrondings matching the color of the car. not sure on color. I already have a white one (dream to always have one) thinking maybe Kryptonite Green... possibly.

thats my plan.. basically i have an 89 automatic that blew out my coolant seals so it sits in front of my house. Working on getting a new engine for that might make it a turbo automatic.. just for cruiseing and still holding it down this one is an 88 SE.. 5 speed.. gonna drive it between the house and shop till i get the motor for the 89 .. or get something else to DD. and it'll probably end up being a toy for sliding

did some more work on it today.. doesn't like to crank..its very slow :/ even with a jumper car. the stock ignition cylinder is shot. so i have to get something to replace it with.. i really don't want another car with a push button ignition.

next post will have pics.. uploading them now to the bucket.

its wicked hard to find them around central ny. to many stupid people drive them in the winter and we use salt on the roads up here so they just get eaten. people to cheap to use a car wash or just not drive it at all. only ones left are fb's everywhere

I feel the same way. i'd love to have a dope *** 7. I have gotten rid of some tho. I just thought this was a deal.. i mean the Transmission alone is worth the 200$ to me. but now i have the 88 and 89 and I have a parts car that sits at a friends house. but i have a feeling that is gonna be gone soon too.

I had a set in my garage that belonged to a friend, we put them on my 7 just to see how it looked. Didn't look bad, but if I remember right they were heavy.

The one next to my house with that fender dent is my fault. Guy pulled behind me while i was backing out of parking.. and it was a) back into his new car when i have no insurance b) turn harder and possibly hit a pole. i chose b. but.. its worth not losing my license haha

yeah.. especially since he had it posted for $500.

update on the car.. got it started back up.. starter wire had came off..don't know how. but.. pretty sure my throw out bearing is shot. Squeals hardcore with the clutch engaged. and the car dies with the clutch engaged. and the car won't idle. :/ but its enough to get it from my house to the shop, where i can start tearing into it. Gonna pull off smog stuff.. vaccumms i don't need.. and pull the trans and put a new clutch in ( found a stage3 6puck on craigs) i'll try to keep it updated on the progress.

Got the car up on the lift. news proabbly at least 2 .. most likely all four calipers replaced. got the transmission out. and the clutch is destroyed. wow. i'm glad i didnt' drive it down there. i'll post some pics once i get them uploaded. hopefully my buddy that is buying the exhaust off the car will trade me for a clutch instead

well... I'm not sure if anyone cares.. but eh.. so.. here's an update..

I was doing some cleaning in the car.. found all the paper work from the original purchase in 1988. :P but I also found a receipt for an engine, apparently it was replaced in 2000 i believe. should have clutch parts in tomorrow and should have ignition switch hooked up. hopefully by this week end i can have it up and driving. one can only hope.

i've been seaching and i'm still searching.. but i'm tryin to find out how to set my S4 tps. i can find that i need to set it to 1K or 1 ohm or whatever.. but cannot find out HOW.. like i said.. still searching. Also want to know about the "2-step" is that only for turbo and only for non stock ecu? just kinda curious.

ok .. thats all for now. if anyone answer.. thanks in advance.

You unplug it and set your positive and negative leads on two of the prongs (coming from TPS) then turn the screw accordingly; it should set to 1.

That's just off the top of my head I don't remember exactly which two prongs it is but it will be obvious because two of them will be somewhat close to 1.

Make sure you don't touch the throttle while doing it.
