Epic family story:

My driveway never had anything but Fords in it. Windstar, Fairmonts, Mustangs, Rangers, etc. A few years ago we got a Mazda Tribute. They suck, never get one.

I had been driving Thunderbirds and Mustangs. I was wondering how a Mazda ended up in my driveway with my dad's permission! I looked it up and lo and behold Ford owns a portion of Mazda.

I watch iD, decide Mustangs suck and I want to drift but stay in the Ford family. What does Mazda have that's RWD? You guessed it! FBs are old, FDs are expensive. FC time! (Oddly enough, I do grip. No desire to drift the FC)

Pick up a black 90 GTU roller for 100$ behind a towing place because I saw it when I really had to ****. No taillights, on Z32 wheels, no engine. Owner said he got it for scrap off somebody and didn't have the heart to junk it. So it sat. He said he'd give it to somebody who wanted to do something with it for how much he payed.

Found a black 89 Turbo II on ebay. Went to look at it, the guy wouldn't let me drive it. The bid ended in one day. I figured what the hell. I bid like mad and got it for 3900. Had FMIC, SAFC, Apexi N1 exhaust, Bonez dp, apexi turbo timer, subs, amp, gauges, greddy fmic, blitz bov. Worst idea, don't ever buy a car on eBay. It drove all fucked up. Bought a Haynes, replaced the AFM, runs like a dream. Sold everything but the SAFC, turbo timer, and dp and made 1000+. I now have a S5 TII for under 3k that runs pretty good.

It was like when I bought the parts car I knew I'd be getting a black S5. Swapped in all broken interior pieces, everything that was needed. Parts cars rule.

Thumbs up Three RX-7

I saw my first RX-7s during the early '80s while I was a college student at LSU. I distinctly remember a Red 1980, a blue 79 and a black 83 with a spoiler kit. Man those were cool cars. Previously, I was a big fan of the Z car, but somehow, I kept gravitating back to the RX-7.

One of my brothers friends was driving a white 1981 Seven that he needed to sell to make room for a new baby. A fate would have it, I was shopping for used sports car and could not find a decent seven. I bumped into him at a gas station and 24 hours later....the car was parked in my garage. He tried to buy the car back from me a few years later....no chance. I kept that car from 1985-2004!

I came across my second Seven while stock piling parts for a massive rebuild of my first seven. While negotiating with my mechanic on labor cost, he mentioned to me that another customer had been storing an '84 GSL mazda RX-& in their garage. Turns out, the car was in perfect condition for 20 year old car, leather interior, 15 inch wheels, rust free. The previous owner had planned to give the car to his kids....but they did not want it. (Dummies). So I bought it for a grand, invested another grand for mechanical repairs over the next six months. I was all set to invest in a paint job and new tires and wheels....and as fate would have it........Hurricane Katrina killed my car with 8 feet of water. Why Why did I leave my car behind. Although I considered trying to save the car, I realized that I did not have the knowledge, expertise or talent to save this car....so we sent it off to the bone yard in the sky.

Three months after katrina, my family and I struggled to re-build our lives. We lost everything in the storm.....everything. Fortunately, we did have insurance, jobs and education so we landed on our feet. Of course, my priorities were in order......must secure: clothing, housing, another RX-7. I found my next RX-7 on ebay. 1988 Convertible. After an unsuccessful bid, I contacted the owner after I realized he did not reach his minimum so I made him an offer. Turns out, a friend was able to drive it from Chicago to Louisiana. I've owned the car for two years now and it is more than worth the 2300 I paid for it. I recently put some 18 inch chrome wheels on it. First Gen....check, Second Gen....check look out third gen, here I come.

about a year ago i was 17 looking at the news paper in class(teacher let up "read" the newspaper) i saw an add for a Nissan Z31 for $1500 right bellow it was an add for a 1992 Honda Accord Coupe for $500 and my dream car a 1990 Mazda RX-7 Non-Turbo,Auto $3000 Obo. i went home knowing i only had enought for the Honda so called the guy and he told me the add was 2 months old and the car was long gone. as soon as i heardthat i was bummed i figured well what the hell i'll call pon the other 2 i mean i could talk my parents into loning me the 1000 t get the Z31 right. well the Z31 was a similar story with a sader ending the car was totaled in a crash a week before i called. so i prayed that i could talk my parents into loning my $2500 for the RX-7 my parent bought my sister her first car striat up for $2500 even though figured with my luck it caught on fire the day before. well when i called and asked i found the lady on the other end of the phone was very heppy to hear somone was interested it turned out the car was in the news papers for about 6 months and she had nefver gotten any serious offers. after getting some more info i went over at test drove the car and decided to buy it but i mnagedf to mingle it down to $2500 and now i have my FC swaped to 5spd with miata short shifter. i love this car every time i drive it it puts a smile on my face.

Well it was my 19th birthday and my mom handed me an envelope. So I open it up and in there it says $1500 to either buy another civic for building one up or an rx-7. Didn't take much to decide as I had wanted an RX-7 for years. Well my first stop was local listings... everything was all rusted out and ugly and I really preferred the looks of the s5 for a daily driver. So next stop ebay. Looked on ebay for probably a good half hour looking in detail at every last one. Found one in Deleware for buy it now 600. Ran to the shop told my dad I wanted it logged in bought it. Well the pictures sucked on ebay we took a huge risk but got there and learned the car had been in a garage since 1998 when it broke down. The paint was faded but buffed out very nicely. Now its about 3/4 through a TII conversion and I am excited as all get out to drive it in the spring.

Ive owned 4 FC's since 99. Each have their own unique acquiring story so I'll start with my most recent purchase. Im chillin at my desk at work and as usual checking my emails on yahoo when I get a msg from the local So Cal 7's club.

Apparently one of the founding members of the club no longer needed the FC as his family is growing and he decides to move on to an RX8. The car came with a ton of goodies: turboII tranny, clutch, flywheel, starter, after markt radiator, bra cover, vert wheels, extra mirror triangles, ol skool trust STB, HKS filter, equipped dunlop tires, factory rx7 mud guards, side-skirts, no pistons.com oil cap set, full sway bars, Suspension Techniques springs and a bad coolant seal ( no bueno). Prior to buying the car, it was featured in Japan's RX-7 magazine and photographed at one of the Club's San Diego meets. Hella excited, I bought the peice of So Cal 7 club history and decided to carry on it's clean tradition throught the street's of LA. All for $1800.

Since then, I removed the NA keg, swapped in a 13bT, picked up TEIN coil over's and 17 in BBS RS's +20 offset. Check my sig...this is my car for life!

moved to canada about 2.5 years ago,1 week before the flight it,a friends dad just finished building a PP 10A r100.i've seen the thing being built for almost 2 years since parts took a while to get (this was in the philippines) and there are very few Fc's and fewer Fd's.so a 10A was even harder to build.

1 week before i left it was finally fired up and moved under it's own power after almost 10+ years sitting in a garage,it was crazy.it was about 100db on idle w/ just a straight pipe, the first 1st and 2nd gear pulls was one of the best feelings you could imagine growing up in a country where a 3.0 V6 was unheard off since cars get taxed the bigger the displacement and gas was at par w/ the US dollar.(third world country = no gas money).the first thing i did when i got settled 2 months after i moved,i got my fc.seeing that i somewhat have a clue on how to maintain/work on it never really gave me after thoughts of working on it after working on hondas (owned one for 3 years when i was 17 and sold it when i moved).

Well I was cruisin down the road in my 91 Celica. This was 4 years ago by the way, and I saw this little gray car. immediately slammed on the brakes and hung a u.

Well I roll into this little shady car lot, and there sat an 87 Base and I just knew that it had my names written all over it.

3 days later, I roll back into the lot, park my Celica and hop in my new FC and drive it home.

Well about 2 years ago I'm crusin in the country and see a little Blaze Red S5. Didn't think much about it. Well later on that year I see its still sitting there, so I pull in. I check it out and think "HOLY HELL ITS GOT 57k MILES AND IS IMMACULATE" and I ask how much they want for it, thinking of hearing some massive price.

About 2 weeks and 400 bucks later, I tow my 89 GTU home.

THEN about two weeks before Christmas last year I see a red GTU on Mautofied.

Its about 60 miles away, and I call the guy up to schedule a time to come look at it, needless to say, I now have two Blaze Red GTU's and an 87 Base

hehe

well, im still in high school, and this took place just at the end of are summer break. all my friends own some form of a honda, and were always tellin me to get a car, in which i responded "ill wait till something falls into my lap." i have a lifted 84 p/u, which is fun, but in a diffrent sense. so one of my friends dad buys broke cars and flips them, so i get a call one day "hey bawk guay (means white in cantanese) do u know how a rotary works?" which i responded with a "yea why?" and he say "just come over" so when i get there, there is a 87 T2 sittin in the driveway. worked on the car for about two days, we put the entire fuel system (except injectors) new, new battery, new plugs, few other parts. we get it to start up, revs up to 2K, then kills itself. my friends dad says "this POS sounds like a lawn mower (later determined bad corner seal on rear rotor)." we didn't work on the car for about three days, this is when i decided to scrap a whole bunch of copper. after dealing with that, i got $7XX and was sittin in my truck just lookin at the money when my phone rings, it was my friends dad, he said "come pick up this POS out of my yard, i dont want it, i bought it for 1g, ill sell it to u today for $600." so towed over and now that i have the money (and the rebuild kit on the way) the motor is in the process of being tore down and out........

Well, about a year and a half ago a friend of mine purchased a 93 Montego Blue FD with a blown coolant seal, due to monetary constraints, we've been rebuilding it VERY slowly ever since then, (should fire up this week!). I rode in it once and really enjoyed it. Then about a week ago, a different friend told me he was looking at RX-8's as a DD, since he sold his Millenia, and didn't want to put a lot of miles on his pristine, 1997 Cobra, with 10k miles on it. SO I went with him to pick up the 8, and because I hate driving the Cobra, I drove the 8 back, and fell in love all over again.

Well, My S14 SR20DET swapped 96 240sx was already up for sale, and 2 days ago, this 230k mile TII pops up on the local forums, and a friend of mine who works at JHot says they have a very low miles motorset that he'd hold for me, next thing you know my S14 is sold (6 hours ago), and I'm the proud new owner of my FC (5 hours ago), and that's how it happened

I just wanted something that no one else had, so I began looking for FCs and 90s MR2s. First test drive in a 90 Rex it threw the belts and blew the water pump, also the clutch was going. Second was a 91' turbo MR2, to much money. Third was my baby an 88 Rex with 61K miles for $3,500. Still want that MR2

I'm still looking for mine, but my cousin owned one in '03 while I was 12. He had an 86 4-lug, the lightest one. I remember it was red, and it was messed up lol (the interior was shitty). But his love for rotary gave me love as well. Ever since then, i've always wanted an RX-7, an FC, because he had one. Love the FC, can't wait to get my own...

I got a random *** pm on the forum (thought it was a nasty joke) or something alike, but about a week later it turned into my clean 90 turbo ha ha! I love this forum.
I mean I saw countless ads on auto trader and craigslist but never had money, last place I'd expect to buy a fc for a decent price ha ha.
I paid 5400 for it and I'll never look back! I feel sorry for the last owner because I know he's going to miss this car!

Copied and pasted from my Cardomain Page (which also has pictures if you'd like to see them!)

This is my 1986 Mazda RX-7 GXL. I had to sell my 87 Supra, Vashti, (who I was in love with) to get her, but quite frankly, Vashti wasn't running and it no longer made sense financially to keep her. I sold her for $600 and used $400 to buy Felicity here.
Ever since I got fired in January 08, I had been thinking about selling the Supra for money, since she was just sitting there. The only person I felt that would have really appreciated it though (The person that helped me rebuild the motor) Wasn't very interested so I put that idea on hold. Thursday, February 21st he gives me a call saying he's interested so we agree on $600 and that he'd pick it up the 26th.
Monday the 25th comes up and I get a call from another friend of mine, "Guess what I just picked up for Fifty Bucks!!!" Apparently the pot-head that he had gotten it from didn't know much about cars, and had some fried up spark plugs. A few bucks later, my buddy had a running FC.
Being the fan of FC's that I am, I immediately pounced on the situation, offering him $250 since that's what he would have made if he had crushed it (Which for some reason is what he wanted to do... go figure). He said that was too low and that someone had offered him $350 for it. I offered him $400 And he took it.
I drove her away, coughing, sputtering, backfiring and slipping. A little tweaking and some ATF later, I have my beautiful Felicity.

well originally i was going to buy an 88' 944, it was red and had a bunch of upgrades on it. but the time i got enough money i was sold. So i looking on youtube and found a video of old top gear entitled "924 vs rx7." i liked the looks of the rx7 and looked around. about this time another 944 popped up. so i had a choice, which was turned out to be quick one, when i found out my grandpa was giving my his kit helicopter with a ported 13b. now i have a red 1989 gxl and i love it.

I had been looking for a clean shell for monts..craigs, here, all sorts of places. Hoping that I would find a wicked shell. Suddenly one day I got a message from a friend saying he had seen one parked out front of a junkyard in an industrial park. So I stopped by to find a 91 NA with 42,000 miles on it and running on one rotor. I've since taken the car under my wing. It had been abandoned by the previous owner for 4 years after a bodyshop blew the motor. It took me 9 months to get registration for it so I could drive it, but I've been driving it since Sept 2007 now and I love every day of it.

my first rx7 was an 86 base. it was also my first car.. story goes

i had just turned 16 and gotten my learners permit. i was driving with my mother across town. i live in a very small town (population < 3000) and for some reason we went down a back road that we rarely if ever go down. i saw the car on the side of the road with a forsale sign. i forced her to turn around and went back to see if anyone was home. no one was so i got the number, called that night went back the next day and test drove, the day after that i offered the guy 1200 and he took it and i drove it home. he had owned it since the car was new and it was in pristine condition. i left it stock and enjoyed it for over a year before i sold it to my friend who still owns the car today. funny thing was i wasn't even looking for a 7 really, i just happened to come across one at the perfect time... who knows, maybe if i had never gone down that road, the road less traveled, i might be driving a civic right now..

I purchased my TII from Carl Byck. It was a rolling chassis at the time. He had blown yet another engine ( 7 total IIRC) while running the car out @ Infineon Raceway. Instead of going with another rebuild, he decided to continue his mods on another TII he had sittin about. So, that left my TII to collect dust. I spotted it sitting behind a shop that a friend owns (OPAK Racing/Spoon Sports) and asked about it. Carl happened to be in the same autocross organization that I belong to so we hooked up at one of the events. I had a POS 88 base that I was AutoX'ing and he had a gorgeous 98 Supra... what an *******

So, the deal was set, I snagged the car, slapped a jspec S4 turbo engine in it and the rest is history.
