Help me choose a nice steering wheel/hub.
Help me choose a nice steering wheel/hub.
I never was into buying steering wheels and shift *****. Now that my original 1988 TII wheel is pealing its time for a new one. I have no idea as to what mm's or if I should get an offset wheel.
I dont know much about wheels. Heard of momo and nardi and thats about it. What else out there is of great quality?
I would love to get suggestions to get an idea as to whats out there.
Also dont know much about which companies out there make good hub/adapters quick release.

I bought a cheapie off amazon. On the box it said miata lol. It works, sorta, had to remove the turn signal cancel. If i did it again id buy a proper momo or sparco hub. This one is obviously cheaper in construction and materials used. Also id like to have a wheel with some dish. My momo wheel is flat and very little room exists between the wheel and turn signal/cruise controls
I spent the money and got a Nardi wheel with Nardi/Momo/Personal Hub...Definitely worth the money. The quality fit and finish has kept up for the 3 years it's been on the car. Definitely would buy for my other vehicles.

I would love a Works Bell quick release. However, 300 + on a hub is ridiculous. NRG for a quick release hub. They also have different colors to choose from if that matters. As for wheels, I had a MOMO net in my E30. Quality was damn good. However, the style of wheel is up to you. They also make some goddam ugly ones.
In all honesty, if you install an F1 style wheel in your track car....You are an idiot. Such a PITA to park and do anything basic. The momo drift isn't too bad. I would love a Nardi, but 250 + for a wheel is a freeeakin stretch.
True that.. leave those wheels for the cars needing them for the intended purpose. Nardis are hot ish.. id also prefer a suede.. but ive heard they get all gross over time if you dont wear gloves. Also keep in mind sizing.. mines a 300mm i believe.. lil small.. cuts off the whole top of the cluster.
I do think nardi is a bit fancy for my needs. I'm thinking momo or sparco in leather. I am 6'1 and have long arms. No sure if I would need an offset one. But having a little bit more room between wheel and turn sig is a great point. Maybe a small offset would be great. As for size.. I like the size of the original wheel which I have no idea in what size it is. But I'm guessing around 320-350 mm is what I need.

Stock FC steering wheel is 370mm, it's recommended to go with a 350mm so it only blocks a bit of the cluster panel. 320mm is quite small, and even with power steering, it takes some effort to turn the wheels. (Also be mindful of how sensitive the steering will become)
I bought mine off from eBay, around $50, 350mm deep dish style with 50mm offset (I think). You can find a picture from my album.
Nardi steering wheel and NRG hubs are like... if you got extra money to spend. Otherwise just go with a cheaper option and use the rest on something else with the car.

Oh yeah the steering... another thing to consider lol... mines 300 i think... no ps.... good thing i have tiny sidewalls compared to stock. That made a huge difference, still cant park with one hand though lol.. damn s4 buyer back in the day opting out of ps
I just upgraded to a 350mm, 90mm dish momo...it's just about perfect. May be a lil too much dish for some people. But it fits the car great.
I can now see the entire instrument cluster. My hands are no longer dangerously close to the turn signal/cruise control stalks. It doesnt interfere with foot work at all. The 50mm increase in size has made slow speed steering effortless compared to before.
Plus it was only $210ish off amazon. Highly recommended

Avenue is pretty similar as well.
Slammedenuff — Avenue Performance Steering Wheels
I've heard the quality is pretty decent, and they can do custom orders, as well as produce limited editions, Grip Royal had a SlammedEnuff limited edition wheel that I wanted really friggen bad.

I'm using the NRG quick release and hub with a Momo Corse wheel and have had zero problems! The NRG hub looks and feels great, very solid. I cant say enough good things about the Momo, it looks awesome, feels awesome, I get lots of compliments on the wheel!
I posted my setup a couple years ago. OMP corsica wheel with a splash hub. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?p=10491648
I'm really happy with how it has held up and feels.

Nardi... End of story.
Steering wheel is what connects you with driving your car, if you really enjoy driving. Get the best wheel that you can.
Also I have seen plenty of the cheapy ebay and nrg wheels break.....

I love manual steering. With the stock steering wheel and stock size tires, the car is easy enough for girls to drive it and not complain. Try using the right size equipment.
