been a member on here for a few years, been looking for a mint FC the whole time. i looked at a bunch, but none of them rubbed me the right way (im ****), but then last saturday 4-25-09 i found one that rubbed me perfectly in every way.

purchased a 1987 TII with 44,759 miles on it, no power steering from the factory, came with S5 and S4 tail's, K&N panel air filter, Mazdatrix short shifter, RE-Amemiya black shift ****, and a gray suede with red stitch shift/e-brake boot's.

all the car needs to be 100% is:
the center vent's above the logicon need to be put back on track (the old owner put hem back in mis-alinged, and the logicon either needs to be replaced, or re-soldered if possible.

every single function on the car works how it should except the logicon, it only work's the hot and cold air, and the fan....the vent selector does not work, but all the lights work.



the day after i brought it home i did a little work to get it where i need it:

*washed, waxed, and detailed the exterior
*cleaned and applied armorall to the interior plastic's, rubber's, and vinyl's
*degreased, and power washed the engine bay (had some anti corrision crap sprayed all over it as a dealership option)
*cut off the rusty stock TII muffler tips, and tack welded some 2.5" tips to it until i can order a real turbo back exhaust
*purchased both front, and the rear BOSCH Icon wiper blade's
*purchased some used FTP lens's because the car's original ones were M.I.A.
*ordered Hawk HPS pads for all 4 corner's
*picked up 4 new Napa Rotor's
*flushed, and changed the rear diff fluid with 75w-90 LS Mobile 1 gear oil
*new ALT, and air pump belt (nobody has the a/c belt in stock)
*fram oil filter, and castrol 10w-30 engine oil change
*4 new brake light bulb's (old owner had LED's in them)
*ordered oem fuel filter, pulsation damper, and brass washer's from Mazdatrix
*ordered a S4 TII blockoff plate kit from Banzai racing

still need to order a Mazdatrix "aftermarket" driveshaft...the U-joint in my stock shaft is loose, and slightly vibrates

you can see on the firewall, and some other area's where i havent removed the anti-corrision crap yet...its a pain in the *** to do, and needs to be done by hand with 3m adhesive remover.

the shock tower's, core support, and fender jam's all used to look like the firewall...nasty! ill do the rest of the area's as i work in that area...when i install an intake, and remove the factory box...ill clean up that whole area, when i remove the a/c, sub zero crap, and other crap...ill clean up those area's.

i blew off the "Mazda" sticker on the front bumper, and airbox when power washing the engine bay, haha.

edit: today i ordered a set of Mazda jdm rain visors for an fc3s

 

those arent chips on the front bumper, they are dead bugs...took an 80mile road trip today.

im going to keep the car clean and simple, but i still need to change a few thing's.

it wont have a bodykit, or any crap like that on it.

i think the only thing ill add to the outside of the car is a corksport S4 front lip, wheels, and my JDM door visor's.

the interior wont change much either, add a momo monte carlo wheel, and hub, a new head unit that play's cd's, and is Ipod ready, and of course an oil pressure gauge, boost gauge, boost controller if necessary, and a wideband.

the engine will mostly be intake and a turbo back exhaust with an FCD, and a waste gate port job...that's all it need's as far as power goes. ill upgrade the cooling with a aluminum radiator, and samco hoses. and of course im going to use my banzai racing delete kit, and do some silicone vac hose work.

im big on suspension, new busing's, mount's, coilovers, strut tower bar's, sway bar's, wheel's and tires.


im pretty good at following through with my plan's....so give it a few month's and the car will be alot closer to what i think it should be.

im not planning on racing or drifting or any of that, just a fun car for nice days, and something to bring to meet's.

i think im gonna do wheel's/tires, CS S4 lip, coilover's, full exhaust, and a fcd and be set for a while.

then ill add the rest of the stuff as time goes.

i dont see it...his is white, with blue interior, has door speaker's, and a spoiler.

mine is a TII without power steering, without door speaker's, without a spoiler...it does have A/C, but not for much longer.

so that **** under the hood is anti-corrosion coating? i thought it was some sort of spray on sound dampening... ive got it covering my engine bay also...

btw... love the domokun brake res sock.

 

yeah, its like undercoating, but for engine bay's...some dealerships used to, and still do offer it as another package to make money off of, it depends on the dealer though.

it does come off with brake cleaner, but to much scrubbing and brake cleaner will remove the paint. plus the brake cleaner stink's, and evaporates to fast.

i found using 3M adhesive remover to remove it works the best, it still stink's, but it doesnt evaporate fast at all....so it gives you a good working time, i found that soaking a rag, and then dabbing the spot you want to clean works best...after you dab the spot, let it sit for 30 second's, then scrub with the soaked rag...it comes right off...once the adhesive is removed, the cleaned area will look greasy. to clean that, wash it with water and or de-greaser, dry it, and apply a little wax to make the paint shine like the exterior. it took me about 1 hour to do both shock tower's, the core support, and the fender jam's. i would think there is easily another 3-4 hours of scrubbing left until its all gone....but im gonna break it up into a bunch of small cleaning sessions until its all done.

that crap was all over my engine bay, and i first tried to get it off with de-greaser and a power washer...some of it came off, but it really needs to be done by hand.

it preserved all my cadium plated brackets and nuts, which is awesome because i love the gold colored nuts and brackets instead of rusty ones.

Nice! I was in the same boat as you. Sitting around waiting for the best deal and also pounced on a mint black 87 t2 with 124k km's. Now clocked at 135k. Your pics remind me a whole lot like mine, before it was attacked with wheels and exhaust.

 

Nice car, but noticed something that was the same on my car, you have directional rims (i got the same ones as you) in the pics your front and rears rims point different ways if you know what i mean as in the blade, the fronts point down on the ends and the rears point up

 

Nice car! You should really get rid of that fram oil filter though...!!! I have personally seen about five different brands of filters cut open and there is literally nothing inside a fram for filtering. Just my .02. But very nice car none the less.

im not gonna worry about that, those wheels wont be on there much longer. then they will only be used for storage in the winter.
