Got my BBS Infini Rims

Let me please begin by saying that it is not my intention to make anyone else feel bad, rather I hope that you can all join with me in my jubilation. (I'm seriously, if not literally bouncing off the walls and grinning from ear to ear.)

Got a shipment from Australia yesterday.

It's like Christmas in June...

New Rims!

Look familar?

This might help...

Here's one with the center cap:

The set:

16x7 (left) & 15x6.5 (right)
Infini BBS (left) & Stock Vert BBS (right)

They need some TLC, but just the fact that they''re here makes me forget about all the other things that still need to happen to transform my lawn ornament back into a sports car.
I raise my glass to everyone with a car and a dream... May the good times outshine the bad ones.

I think that's a huge part of the FC's appeal.

Gots to clean 'em and wrap 'em in rubber first.
I'm thinking Goodyear 225/50/16

$400 Australian + $425 Australian for s&h. Australia Post to Hawaii took 11 days.
Purchased them on 4/20 and the exchange rate made them $611 USD
No word from the seller by 5/25 so I disputed the credit card charges and got my money back.
Re-purchased them on 6/12 and the same $825 AUD was now $698 USD
My impatience cost me $87 (86.93 rounded)

You might be psychic, as I'm debating going 16s all-around or 15f/16r.
Before you ask if you can buy two from me, 16s all-around is my first choice by a long shot.

All Automotive Import Parts in Queensland, Australia
Google search for "infini wheels"...
I ended up here:

How much do the wheels weigh?

Part of the appeal for me getting Vert Wheels for my GXL was the 11 lbs per wheel without tire.

Thanks guy, they should look great on the car next to those clear side markers I've got around here somewhere.
Keep looking for your set of Infini gear, it's out there. If you've more patience than I, you can probably get a deal too. I didn't haggle on price or negotiate for "actual shipping costs." I figured the extra could be for their troubles to take the tyres (Australian for tires) off, pack the rims up, and find a shipper. Plus I was admittedly afraid that someone would swoop in and buy them out from under me, if I took too long or tried to save a few bucks. Since it looked like Infini rims sell for $600-$900 a set, WHEN you can find them, I figured $300+311 shipping seemed right. We pay shipping for everything in Hawaii. If it comes from Japan, we probably pay shipping from Japan to California and then Cali to Hawaii on top of that. But I digress.

If you do find rims, make sure they have caps, as they are not the same size as the Vert BBS. Same wrench to install/remove them and the center badge looks the to be the same size, so I may swap my Mazda centers for the ∞ centers that are in there, but I haven't decided.
Dude, I have ∞ centers! There goes the ear to ear grin again!

Part of my motivation as well. Bigger contact patch and lower profile sidewall are another part. Baddass rims that look like stock but aren't, and were only put on 2400 cars(citation needed), yet another.
Actually, I guess my motivation was bigger contact patch, lower profile, lightweight, baddass rims!
Hawaii Law says you can't put wheels on that are more than 1.5" larger than stock, so technically 17's are out for me.

To answer your question:
15 lbs on my bathroom scale. (2 rims w/caps=30 lbs) It's not a shipping scale, but it had the 15" rims at just under 23 for a pair.

Turbo rims are 16"x7" & 17 lbs each, right? Unless, like me, you really like the mesh BBS, there are a lot of light weight rims out there that are not as hard to find.

$865 later, we see Goodyear Assurance TripleTred 225/50/16 91H 740AB wrapping clean, but not polished, Infini rims.

Vert (205/60/15) on the left, Infini (225/50/16) on the right.

great choice on both the wheel and the tire, the triple tread is an excelent wet weather tire, and has great treadwear as well......../salespitch

^I work in the rainiest city in the USA, hense the wet weather tire.
Treadwear was the clincher. I looked at a lot of different tires; when I compared 740 A-B to things like 420 AA-A, I had to tip in the direction of treadwear over temp/traction.

btw, I must really be used to the look of the 205/60/15 because even this tiny little change makes it look like a different car to me.

Bringing this one back

They look awesome. When I was doing my turbo swap i almost bought a set of those with centers. Once I'm back to the tire phase I'm eyeballing either a set of those or some Amemiya's.

Oh and thanks for the heads up on the centercaps being different. Personally I would put the Mazda centers in and keep the Infini IV ones safe. No telling how long it would take to locate replacements if some kid decided he wanted your center caps.

I had Infini wheels for a time -- I lived in constant fear that they center caps would be stolen, so I took the wheels off completely and sold them. They're just to rare to risk it..
