Trade me for that FD, you can be the bees-knees with two GTUs's
The nice thing about the BBS LMs is I can flip the face behind the barrel and gain -10 more offset... That coupled with some tame spacers... could be perfect.
I have extra pics in the "post your FC wheels" thread... or you can follow that pic to my flickr and see the shots. I tried my best to find the most agressive sizes that I thought would fit AND give me beefy tires. I was very against super stretch, and major fender rolls.
It was my first time to ever try and wheel shop and I think I did get close to the target.. but Im sure my sizes are a pretty common base for any car.
I would have held out for something a little wider or less offset, but I did not want to lose my opportunity on something that was... "close enough" (I spent almost a year or so wheel watching.. Also could not figure out what I wanted... a few non car people question why I spent so much money on the exact same wheels as stock. They might be right. I wanted to keep an "OEM" look... my dream idea of how the GTUs would have come stock.)
Anyway if it will help, here are my wheel specs:
18x8/18x9 +35
245/35|265/35
(Front fender lips have been rolled in.)
If I flip the faces, wheels will be +25 offset, which I think will MAX the front with my tire choices, and the back could maybe still use a -5 spacer.
(Initially my requirements were somewhere around 17x10 +25 all around, with 275/40 tires, because I saw my friend with a racecar FC do it. It would have required extended front fenders, which I later decided I did not want start tearing off OEM body panels just yet, and another friend was working me over to get 18s instead for such a long time...)
If my car looks good, I cant take credit for it. I blame my friends and the Club for the info.
Hell, I cant even tell if it looks good... I just followed what my heart always wanted, and its just "ehh" to me... I just drive it and am not interested in change.

Congrats on the find
I have a '90 GTUs, a few more miles... about 120k more miles
Car has stock wheels, lots of nice suspension mods, mild streetport motor, Full RB exhaust, RB steel flywheels, removed ac and ps.
My goal is keep it 'stockish' in both performance and looks, while just slightly improving over the factory; make it a bit more like Mazda 'shoulda made it'.
ENJOY!

^ Exactly what he said. Im starting to get a general consensus that all GTUs owners think the same about their model... "make it a bit more Mazda"
(Except for poster Christopher W... he went off that deep end full throttle... Thats also the best way to create a GTUs.)

The RB steel fly made a nice improvement, woke it up a bit, like recovering from a hangover . No loss of streetability. The car still gets 25-27mpg on the highway on 87octane.
I've had a stock '87, a monster 500whp T2, and now this nice GTUs. It is by far the most enjoyable.

Hell yea! Congrats, welcome to the group! so awesome, all the GTUs's are coming out of the woodworks.
I picked up my 10k mile GTUs 4 years ago for $3k. No one ever flipped out and told me not to mod it... From the reactions I got, you woulda thought it was a crappy base 86.
Oh well.

that is very clean car. I got screwed with mine it looked pretty on the outside and the interior was very clean, but the people that owned it before me had no idea about a rotary. the car only had water in the radiator. the water was brown with rust and the coolant seals were gone. did not know this when i paid 5600 for the car. I have changed the engine and many other things its in tip top shape now.

I'm having to redo the drivers seat in mine. You'd think with 28k miles the seat would be nice but the guy bought the car new when he was 62. He probably had a little trouble getting in and out when he was in his late 70s. He's 85 now. He drove the car up to this year every week back and forth to the golf course. Never really getting the car warmed up nice. Not good for for these cars.
He is pretty cool though, he loved that car, just didn't know anything about it except that it made him feel young he said. He made me promise to bring the car back when I had it right and give him a ride. So I've got that.
I like your name. Should I call you This or Mr. Stupid? I could call you Izzy Stupid.

Thanks guys, Lip is OE from Mazdatrix It was way too costly and took forever to get but it was painted and perfect so...
I have the yellow fogs and the oe switch to install. Hope it is already wired like I have read on here.
The body and paint are as close to perfect as I was hoping for. There were a few rock chips that I touched up along with a handful of dings I had removed
. Using Meguiars Show Car Glaze 7 really made the paint come alive. It just soaked the oils back into the tired and oxidized paint. That product is money.
Here's a few phone pics. I'll take more tomorrow. It's about to be put away for the winter. Makes me sad. But it will be warm and I can go visit and start her up whenever so I'm not too upset.

Very nice. The paint looks terrific. I hope you give the older guy a good ride. I'm 62 and I bought my '91 vert this year. "Course it's my 4th RX7.
Your exhaust looks great. Is it the original, or did you get new stainless? I can't tell. It seems to fit perfect.

Thanks Lock, Yea Jack (orig owner) was very happy to see the car. He and his Wife came out mouths wide open when I pulled into their driveway. It was great to see this 80 something couple showing so much love for a second gen rx7.
The exhaust starts with a custom header then goes to a RB presilencer and catback. Not really loud but has a great growl to the streetport halfway through the rpms. And it safely goes to 9000rpm.
I had a vert awhile back. They are very cool. You should definitely get the Racing Beat catback for your vert. They look fantastic and sound nice. Quality product for sure.
