FMIC, Wash'n'Wax, and wireless flash (PICS)
Hey guys!
I haven't had many things to post pictures about but here is another little batch of some new updates on my end.
first off... the new GReddy fmic, S5 turbo, and HKS SSQV bov!
and finally playing around w/ my new SB-600 flash. I was messing around and learning some off camera stuff. The D80 is able to command the flash off camera so you can place it where you like. I can command several flashes at once and its a lot of fun. I'm still learning but man the possibilities are awesome. So many ideas but heres what I have now.
and the FC after a good long day of washing, waxing, and cleaning up!
2 Nikon SB-600's firing:
and my buddies 350Z:
Thanks for looking! Comments and critiques...? Only if they are nice!

...also, wheels were the last thing on my mind when I wanted to have this done. I was thinking of our mountains + how much I drive them + the shitty top mount and heat soak. Plus I have plans for a hybrid turbo and some fun little #'s down the road after some more reading and learning I have to do. But I am very happy w/ the fmic. The car feels so much better.
I want suspension and some baller as wheels by January of February. Soon my friend. Oh and the bov... **** sounds awesome. I used to swear to hate these things but its the old ssqv that flutters. I hate the chirp ones. lol.
Thanks for the compliments guys!

This is a very nice car. . .
Can't you just shut off the built in flash instead of covering it? or are you bouncing it? but you already have that big *** flash.
I gotta get me some kinda flash like that too.
What setting would you use for a moving shot so the car and everything else doesn't look like frozen to capture a "moving shot"
I also have trouble focusing at night, and I try to use a 1st curtain flash off the built in flash at night so it's "brighter", (but moving subjects blur out or get smudged) instead of just plain white/pale on subjects and everything else dark. Do I make sense?
I do have a simiilar cam like yours.
Like this. In this photo, it looks like you used that new flash. Look at the background. If you delay the flash using 1st or 2nd curtain, you'll probably see the background too, or by using the overly used technique by everyone of shutter.

Lan... yeah I'm kind of out of it right now so I think I can help you if you rephrase. haha. Sorry but I'm really new at external flashes and commanding. All of the shots above are shot command my big flash, off camera. The pictures of my FC in the parking lot were shot using 2 Nikon SB-600's off camera.
To get the background effect I guess you could have the flashes fire at the end of a longer exposure but still don't have enough experience w/ lighting to verify. I'm really new at it so sorry if its no help.
The one shot of myself... to command the flashes off camera. You unfortunately have to use the on camera flash to trigger them if you do not want to pay for a wireless trigger setup.
I have some buddies that are kind of guiding me with learning but letting me find out things on my own as well.
...the moving car shot that you were speaking of. I really don't know what would be best with that one. It would seem to me that no matter the exposure; it would freeze everything moving as soon as the flash fired. But me being a newb I could be wrong.
Thanks for all the compliments guys! I appreciate them. And more pictures to come once I get a little better at this kind of stuff. lol.

Nikon 18-200mm VR for those shots.
I don't do anything other than wash the black trim. I have no idea if tire products are good for it. Seems to me that it would rub off on you if you leaned up against it. If anything some armorall back to black or something should do it.

Same thing for the moving object at night issue. If you have a rear curtain sync combined with a longer shutter speed it will look properly. For example, if you have a car moving past you, it will have a blur behind it, then a clear shot of the car from when the flash fires. With a 1st curtain sync it will have a clear shot of the car with a blur coming off the front of it like it was moving backwards.
The tricky part is the focus and the exposure. There isn't much you can do about the focus without focusing manually, or getting a speedlight like the SB600 which has an infrared autofocus assist on it. The exposure you kind of have to guess and tweak the flash exposure compensation until it comes out right. And of course digital makes learning this a lot faster.
