First look-8 pc widebody w/ 1 off fg rear fenders

So, here's what I've been working on for the last year or so on and off.
Appreciate the purist RX7 look, but it's not me.

Quick stuff:

CobraR rims - 10.5" rear / 9" up front
255 40 17's up front - had to use 5mm spacer / 275 40 17's in the rear.

RMagic-Raceon 8 piece Wide body kit - the usual grinding and shaping to fit that I had read about before attempting to do this build.
Custom made 1 off fiberglass rear fenders-
First time I ever fiberglassed - used off the shelf products w/ foamboard /foam shaping and overlays. gonna make my own mirrors in the near future. -reason for cardboard in the pic - for ideas.
If your curious about doing this without a mold, and just want something that's not going to be reproduced - be happy to share what I did
Not real easy to find specific info about body mods for this kind of process that doesn't get overly detailed for a novice.

Thoughts? - hate it, coolest ever, sacraledge-(sp)?
doesn't matter really - just thought I'de show something a little different than the norm - but curious about general impressions.

Still trying to decide on the color - might stay semi-black - thinking gunmetal w/ black would look good also.

If you are curious about the back window, it says: Get Nervous Racing - our club.

Enjoy:

Sorry about the pic quality - used a $20.00 camera - will post better one's when closer to completion.

TFitz.

Fenders aren't bad, but do something about that hood scoop please. That's the only thing that's bugging me.

I like the sideskirts

A for originality
A for effort
C for fluidity of body lines
D for hood.

Overall ~B

Not what I would have done/AM doing but good job.

Finish it, take better pics and post them.

Props on filling in the SUPRA-like front. Makes the kit tolerable

It's ok, I'd give you a B-. For widebody applications I like the Mariah kit.

Yeah, the scoop is going to be glassed in at a later date. Just needed something for now. Made it out of sheet metal and a long iron bar for a metal break - Like the shape to the car though.

Those pics look like they were taken with the worlds first camera phone.

Anyways, looks good so far and congrats on a cool project. Don't think I like the hood too much though.

Hope to see some progress pics in the near future..

Kinda cool, sorta reminds me of that cartoon show street sharks.
I'd need some better quality pics to say yea or nay on the front bumper, but that hood has GOT TO GO!, the rest of it is pretty cool and has a bat mobile appeal.

oh, and dark gray metalic/ gunmetal would look great.

Wackaloo,

Hey, sorry about the delay.
I have been w/out internet for almost 3 weeks.
Changed over to cable internet - from dsl- love it!
So anyhow, Yeah I do have some pic's on what I did to make the rear fenders. Like I said, I didn't make a mold, I just mirrored the sides w/ cardboard and foamboard templates so I would have exact duplicates for both sides. So if you are looking to just make something for your car only, this was a great way to do it.
If you have never done glass before, welcome to the club! This was a first for me, and in all honesty, after a little time and patience, it really wasn't hard at all once I figured out some of the basics.
Things like the right ratio of resin and hardener or laying the glass w/out getting bubbles.
I spent countless hours reading and studying the internet in "how to" forums, but was not able to find much of anything in direct relation to what I wanted to do for my car.
And yes, the pic's are high quality.
So, since it has been awhile since your post, if you are still interested in how to do this, I will be happy to let you know what I did.

Later,

TFitz.

NCGNETO90 - sorry about the late post. Like I said in my previous one, just got back online - after 3 weeks of dealing with Qwest online he**!
Anyhow, I am in Pocatello. So just a little bit of a drive. But not nearly as much snow as I am sure you must get.
Another CA transplant that had to get out of the madness!
I appreciate your "putting it nicely". I have seen some fantastic looking stock Rx7's on this forum, but like I said before, it's just not for me.

Anyhow, thanks for your thoughts.

TFitz.

what resin/glass did you use? did you make a completely new pannel or did you just attach your piece on top of the metal? What was the approximate cost?

ive been tossing the idea of designing widebody kit then having it molded out of carbon, widebody+putting car on diet instead of me=good
