Hi All,
Today was the first chance I've had to take my '86 n/a out for a torture run.
I still have a lot of work to do on it but, I wanted to see if the aux. ports worked after I got them freed up before I took her off the road until later this spring (they did).
WOW!
For a car that needs tires and considerable TLC, I am a happy guy.
It's a really strong puller, goes where I point it and I was able to kinda scare my son!
Keep the revs up.. and I haven't had that much fun since I took my Alfa on what is probably the only twisty in Indiana!
Anyway, the only concern, after two high-speed runs, I smell what I think is an anti-freeze leak somewhere. I haven't found any leaks but, that's what it smelled like.
I'm going to take it out tomorrow for another thrashing to see if the smell returns.
After Monday, it's off the road until the mini-restore is finished.
Sorry this is so long but, I thought I'd share.
Joe

Update:
I took her out for another flogging x3, today.
Lotsa twisty and combined town/interstate driving.
First run I still had the anti-freeze smell in the engine bay. Second run... none. Same with the third run.
I suspect I could be smelling the remains of stuff that has been sprayed/spilled by the PO.
During the trials, I was really keeping the revs up and trying to stress the cooling system as much as I could. At no time did I see any indication of any rise in temperature or coolant loss.
During the next few months of garage time, I'll be replacing hoses, anti-freeze and thermostat just to be sure everything is in order.

Do not rely on the factory coolant temperature gauge.

Install a good aftermarket gauge/sensor in one of the few proper locations. I consider prosport to be the lowest level shitty gauge that is usable on cars.
