convertible spare tire hold down question?
convertible spare tire hold down question?
Hi Guys,
My '88 vert didn't have any spare tire hold down hardware in it when I bought it. I went to the junk yard and pulled the metal ring and wing-bolt from a coupe.
Now, I can't seem to figure things out. If I look at where the spare tire goes in the compartment behind the seats, there's three holes. the front and rear holes are threaded and the middle is not. If I try and use the wingbolt and ring (through the wheel hub) to fasten the spare tire to the middle hole, I have two problems: the wing bolt is too short and the middle hole isn't threaded.
Can someone with a 'vert tell me how its supposed to look? I could probably make it work by using longer bolts are putting them through the wheel holt holes rather than the hub and bolting it to the two threaded holes. I'm curious on how it supposed to really look like.
Thanks in advance.

its supposed to just bolt on. its just the long bolt and a plate to hold it down.
i think the bolt goes in either of the holes with threads. just as long as it fits and holds the tire down so when you drive it, it doesnt go flying everywhere.
