Convertible with hinge window vents
I own a 90 convertible and I would reall love to make the fix door window open with some type of hinge so that more air can flow into the car on hot days. The Rx7 is a convertible, but in terms of air flow, its considered more like car with a huge sunroof than a convertible. I have noticed that air flow into the cockpit is restricted do to the fix window and opening that side window like a vent would be a plus. Any ideas.

I don't think that has ever been done. I actually love the design of the windshield on the verts. Its one of very few cars that you can have a conversation with the top down and not have hair blowing in your face constantly.

There's a reason manufacturers no longer make functional vent windows...they are a PITA to assemble and fit.
I do however, appreciate your desire, it would drive me bonkers to have a "pretend" vent window like the verts.
Might cut a cardboard template of the shape and wander the junkyard.
It would be miraculous if you found a close donor (I suspect the rake at the front of the door frame is way more acute than most older doors) but you can see what is involved and maybe even harvest some hardware.
It'd be cool to see you pull this off.

Yeah, I have tried the Junk Yards and nothing I have seen comes close. The window is fairly big. I went to an Automotive glass company Giant Glass and they said "Yeah Right" we cant do that and neither can U...

Being a vert owner myself, I can say the little fixed windows do irk me a bit. I've always wondered about swapping coupe doors over, cutting the pillar and upper framing off and finishing the whole seam with a new seal. But this would also be pretty cool, and probably cheaper/easier.

Myabe a solution can be simply finding a way to slide the little window in and out with ease, will do. When taken out store behind seat and some how putting it back by locking it in place.

Lots of hearsay in this this thread........ask someone who knows first hand.....like me!
Coupe and convertible door shells are the EXACT same size. You can bolt one style door onto the other style body and it will line up perfectly. Interior panels are interchangable (with the exception of speaker placement).
HOWEVER.....The trailing edge of the door glass is cut at different angles and will not line up with the disimilar body.
Dave....Besides having to get crafty with sealing the glass to the body, you would have to have custom glass made to the correct shape.
Last estimate I got (about 4 years ago) put the pair of custom, tempered glass windows in the $1500 range.
Here are a few pics I took while doing the exact opposite of what you ponder......modifing coupe doors for my vert....
Upper window frame removed, belt line filled
My buddy Chris doing his thing
Mocked up
Sectioning the trailing edge
Grafting in the piece from the vert door
Quick test fit of the weather strip

I figured it was structural which is why I haven't really put it all to paper, but damn that vert looks cool with it gone. I'm anxious to see the top seal/window line when it's all done. This and the coupe hatch put onto a vert have me drooling. Both are at about the same stage, too, it seems.
