All you Vert guys out there...

So I got a radio install kit for my 88 vert that had the stock CD player and junk, and its way too small. I've got like an inch gap on each side.. Anyone have any advice on what brand of single din install kit with a little cubby or something underneath I should use to get the right fit? I really don't want to fab anything if I don't have to.

the fact that it's a convertible has nothing to do with the radio install fitting in the hole.
I'm pretty sure the hole is the same for all fc's.
You can search for aftermarket radio installs, this had been done may many times.

If it is an 88, there should be two plastic pieces that screw into the surround piece that fill in the gaps. I can't remember if they come with the dash kit or if they were attached to the surround originally. On later models, the rubberized surround has the pieces molded in. I had a Metra dash kit on my old stereo which worked just fine.

Hey thanks for the info man. I didn't have any extra pieces that came with my original install kit, and the stock radio fit right in without any kind of surround that I can remember. Probably just got a janky universal kit. it said it fit mazda rx7, I just figured it might have been a different setup for the vert with all the bells and whistles it came with factory.
