Pictures are here, brace yourself, they aren't that great, Ill get some better ones over the weekend if time allows. A small amount of paint made it onto one of the tires... I've got scrubbing in my future... Still need to detail the interior anyway though.
Came out great. Don't forget to correct the run just below the rear driver side Mazda text badging! Did you smoke the foglights?

Thanks, very kind of you.
Yes the car died. I was working on a 20b to go into it. Around that time I got a new job and found out they 'forgot' to turn in my tax paperwork. So I technically wasn't an employee and was getting paid. Around tax return time the company became under fire and all the paperwork was back filed and corrected. However 0 was taken out of my paycheck over the 1.5 years I'd been working. 2 days later I had a nice bill from the governement so I was forced to sell the motor. Having done so really broke my spirit and I ended up selling the car off for an absolute steal. I used that cash for a downpayment on my BRZ.
Holy smokes Batman, 6 years later I'd forgotten about this thread. So much has happened in the interim.
I still have the car, it was my first car and I got it from my grandfather who we lost last year. Unfortunately the car did not get driven much after being painted, we sold the dealership that we owned and went through some family issues that resulted in downsizing significantly.
I bought a more practical daily driver than my Miata (03 outback 5 speed) and with a commute of over an hour it made the RX7 impractical to drive.
I've continued to work on the car a little bit in my downtime but as we do not have a garage anymore the car spends a lot of time outside unfortunately. I'm going to need to wet sand and buff the car the to clean the paint.
I decided about six months ago that after losing my grandfather I want to spend more time with this vehicle, as such I am buying some new parts and fixing some old ones to get the car in a condition that I'll be happier driving it regularly.
I've since I had the seats re-covered and fixed some of the interior. I've got a lot of parts on the way and will begin to update this thread as time goes on. Just finished restoring the wheels, after the paint is dried sufficiently I will be mounting tires and installing them on the car.
The car will be staying naturally aspirated for the foreseeable future, considering my current situation I would prefer the car to be as reliable as possible.
I neglected to take photos during the restoring process of the wheels. However, you can see how they looked before in the above posts. This is 3 coats of inca pearl and 3 coats of cleat with a hand polished lip. Tires are BF Goodrich G-Force Sport Comp-2 summer.
Its nice to have the car back on the road. I am currently reworking the interior. New Vert leather seats and new seatbelts, lots of plastic repair and such. photos to come soon. In this photo you can see the hatch spoiler that is test mounted, I will be doing some reshaping and then painting it Arctic White like the car.
Unfortunately not, I unexpectedly became the head of my family's household. There are more important places to spend money than on a carport, but it is on the list. The car does sit on the only concrete surface on our property, at the moment I am trying to get to a point where the car will be driven regularly again.
It had been stalling randomly for the past year and not restarting for long periods of time, turns out it was the ignition signal for the safc, a bolt had rubbed through the sheathing and grounded it intermittently.
On the list at the moment are the following;
New seat belts,
Carbon reinforced plastics,
A/c if I can find a way to keep the gilmer pulleys,
a sound system that has more than 1 working speaker...lol
new hatch tie downs,
floormats and cargo mat,
koyo radiator,
radiator panel (maybe)
silicone vac hoses (tired of replacing every 2 years)
keyless entry,
and basic reliability stuff.
Really nothing crazy, but I want the car to feel more "finished" Like how my miata was. I miss that car, but it was too low to get into our driveway, and as we just have an easement to use the driveway (unfinished private road) , I could not do anything about it.
