18" GTR replica wheels, thoughts?
1 Attachment(s)
I have an oppurtunity to snag some 18" Mustang GTR concept wheels for $200. These are new and never used. I really wanted 17x9 and 17x10.5 but the cost difference is vast..
The wheels are not my favorite style but they are crazy cheap, and my neighbor picked up a set for his cobra vert and he uses them as drag rims. They look a lot better without the caps.. I would paint them black in the centers... What do you guys think? |
They loook good. Why the hell not?
That's what I was thinking. I found them for $50 each.. Crazy cheap.
Do eettttttt!!!
LOL holy crap... Just ordered them, they gave me an additional $50 coupon for ordering online... $150.12 shipped for a set of 4...LOL wow...
good deal man.. mustang wheels so they should be good sizing for rwd

gad damn thats cheap

I think with a slight pull on the fenders and running 40 series tires I will be golden. I have the eastwood roller, so rolling shouldn't be a problem. I have put 24mm offset 18" wheels on before with 245 tires and they only rubbed the fenderliner on strong left turns.. If I go smaller tires I should be good.
I just noticed the offsets on the ones you posted hyper.. Those are for 05-10 stangs. For the proper offset (24 and 26MM) you have to search under 99-04. Also they sold out of 10.5inch wide so I am sitting 9's all around.. No biggie...
The chromes on a mustang dont look too good, and thats 18x9 and 18x10
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...er4466/006.jpg hopefully its the chrome that makes em look crappy lol |
Yeah my next door neighbor has them on his cobra.. He painted the centers black and they look better. For $150 I can't go wrong, I am going to paint them black in the centers and remove the caps. I will test fit his for pictures when I get a chance..
Also the lips measure the same on the 10.5's and 9's so...
Hell, even if you end up not liking them, I'm sure you could re-sell them for way more than that.

This is his car, like I said I will paint them black like this and then remove the caps... |
you should do it they look really good painted black
Doing, did, done! I may buy 2 sets, that is just so cheap..... My first set is on the way to my local store, they should be there on Friday.!
Saw this a few years ago... just remembered these are the same wheels (back ones)

It looks good in my opinion.
I bought a set as well. Can't pass up that deal.
im ordering now but i cant find the offset specs.
You must search for 99-2004 mustang wheels. If you buy the ones that Hyper posted you will need spacers. the ones I bought are 24mm offset.
They have a set of 20's for $150 too..lol
i jsut talked to the guy at discount. they are a +50 offset.. so plan on running spacers with these wheels
edit** i should read closer.. the 10.5 are +50 |

Wondering if the 35mm ones wouldnt have been a better choice... waiting on a response from the wheels gurus... I know the 24mm ones will fit but probably require fender rolling.
35mm ones will not... go withj the 24mm ones.
what site are they at for $150 for a set?
discount tire.com I posted the link,

Alrighty, Mine showed up today, Discount Tire ran out of the 24mm sets I guess so they shipped me a set of 35mm instead.... They fit great in the back with NO clearance issues I can see, but up front with tires on them I am worried they may rub the front springs, I am not 100% sure but that is my best guess... I am going to get some small spacers once I get tires on them to get a better idea of how much room is needed. I am not upset, i wish they would have let me know they were going to send me these, but for $150 it could have gone much worse.
Here are a few pictures, no centercaps, dry mounted. They look rediculously huge, but I bet when the car is on the ground with some rubber they will look better, plus black centers will visually bring the size down. |
try putting a jackstand under the lower control arm and lowering teh jack to compress the suspension a lil?

Ugggg.... Thinking that its going to rub up front unless I were to stretch the tire, which I dont think I am the type of person who would do that...
damn cheap price for some big wheels that are gonna look pretty damn good
Thanks for the compliment. I have a feeling a few other rx7s will be popping up on here with these on them....
Meh, not really feeling them. A little too blocky for my tastes. Can't beat the deal though.
Yeah... not my favorite style, but i am painting the centers Graphite so it should mask the bulk.. $150 shipped to my door.. cant complain too much.
I cant lie I thought about it for a few minutes heh.
bet the tires will cost 2.5x as much as the wheels |
Luckily I already have tires, pilot sports that came off my old cobra rims....
fugly!
a set of 5mm spacers up front would fix your rubbing issuses along with a very slight stretch
they look good bro gives it a retro look, you pulled it off now cant wait to see it with tires and standing
probably 225/40/18 up front, and 235 or 245 in the rear if you have room, will need fender roll of course.

i want to see them with tires, im considering them right now. you should hurry up!
i would jump soon, they have sold out of a lot of the different offsets, I will try to mount them up with tires asap.

Sucks that you couldn't get the +24 offsets. I guess the Mustang owners caught wind and snatched em up in a hurry! You could get away with a 10mm spacer since you have +35's
i measured yesterday and i am goint to try a 5/16 (roughly 8mm) and see how it goes.
More people sporting mustang wheels? I have more company now lol.
