Stockpiling Parts for our S5 or S4's

Now that some of them are over 30 years old, wondering if anyone has been slowly stockpiling parts to get ahead of future repairs on our FC's . I have no plans to ever sell my '89 so was thinking of maybe getting a spare S5 OMP. Anybody else doing this, or have any suggestions for priority parts ( S5, or S4 specific) to tuck away for the future ?

i have tons of parts, there's lots of hoarders out there though. i recondition parts when i have the time to, but some like the OMP are a little sketchy to do such a thing with. problem is they usually wind up going bad just by sitting on the shelf, so even parts that were good can and do go bad just from sitting around, so you have to be careful who you are dealing with and if they care about possibly selling things that might not be good anymore.

Anything to do with a VERT specific part.

crap is rare as hell depending on where you live.

try finding a damn door, window or good condition interior trim for the rear area ....

^man, I remember throwing a whole bunch of stuff out back in the day when I parted out a few FC's. Couldn't give the stuff away, parted a vert out and most of it sat until it got tossed. Near perfect condition grey interior that nobody wanted. FC interior pieces burn very hot, as I recall And TII drivetrain pieces didn't bring near the money they do now.

I knew it'd be worth something some day, but I would of guessed that time was another decade down the road.

Anything Turbo II specific is worth keeping around, and any interior pieces no matter what color that haven't gone to hell.

not all of it has value still. i have some FC interior pieces that have been sitting on ebay for like 4 years and are priced at about $13 with shipping, had people throw me lowball offers like $5 which wouldn't cover ebay fees, paypal fees and shipping costs while making a penny off them. FC owners are still as cheap as ever, basically i just decline most offers still without bothering to send a response message, because if i did they wouldn't be very nice ones. offering 30-50% of an asking price isn't just dumb, it is rude.

someone will eventually need them though, however i have sold most of my miscellaneous stuff aside from engine junk.

if i was going to hoard FC parts, i'd order a set of defroster grilles, dash triangles, a pair of door handles and maybe window regulators. haven't looked at the exterior moldings yet, but maybe some of those too.

it stuff that when Mazda runs out, that will be it
