Running like a.top. Still slw.

I have the engine on my 89 convertible running like new. Had the injectors serviced. New plug & wires. Atkins auxiliary port sleeves. Racing Beat header and exhaust with Bonez cat. New O2 sensor. K&N filter. Competition clutch. TPS is set. Pulls hard to about 6K then it seems to flatten out. MSD.

Put a carbon fiber truck lid on.

But it's still slow. And uncomfortably loud.

What next? Pistons?

Doug

What's next? A TII....

And why do you have a competition clutch in a car that makes less torque than a Honda?

It's a 30 year old n/a car. Even the TII in stock form is slow to today's standards.

Honestly on the subject of being fast or not. I unfortunately bought a very good condition 89 vert with an automatic tranny. I thought It was going to be the worst experience ever but I was surprised by it, especially since its a 80s auto.

It's by no means a race car but I felt like my old S4 vert manual was slower by a bit than this auto. Maybe it was the 3.9 rear end that made it feel worse compared to the 4.1

It's not the fastest but that's not the point in these cars, the enjoyment alone is better than a 270hp camry. And hey my car is as fast as a Porsche in traffic :P
