RHD FC Project questions!?

Hi all.

I am looking to start my next project and I want to start off with a manual, rhd, non turbo model s4 or s5. More of a question than a search for a car, but does anybody even know of any RHD non-turbo model examples in the United States? I totally understand why it is more cost effective to have T2 models shipped from Japan. Most (including myself) would not even bother spending more to ship and register a car over here for more than the price of the car itself (speaking about non turbo fcs). BUT, I plan on doing a 1jz swap so I would rather not spend the extra cost on a T2 model when I don't need it. I know I know nail me to a stake I get it, but I have a GT35R FD in the garage that I absolutely love and I am ready to take on my first piston project. I want to remain in the rx7 community though as I feel it is like no other.

But why not buy a rhd t2 shell you may ask? (Which I also thought to do) but I want to buy a complete car, running and driving to start as I have found over the years it is just easier to do that than to buy a shell, motor and then piece everything together. It never works and I always lose/spend more money in the end...

SO, after all my rambling, does anybody know of any RHD NON T2 fcs for sale in the US? I have done quite a lot of research and have yet to find anything.

Thanks all. Hope to be posting in the second generation section of the forums with you guys soon. I am burning with anticipation to get this project started

There were several Australian models that were made without a turbo but were right hand drive vehicles. I would suggest looking at importing one of those if you cannot find one already imported. Almost all of the European models were turbo. All JDM models are turbo.

I almost think it would be better for you to just grab a non-turbo American bass model and some clip and do a conversion. here is a quick write up I just googled
https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/maz...w-build-41750/

however in the end I would have to disagree with your initial assumption and I would suggest that you look for an already complete import. I have only seen a couple conversions done well and in the end I fear you would pay much more piecing it together. But I do understand that not everybody has the budget to just purchase one and that is why I made my suggestions.

Thank you for the info! I will search in the outback for some examples. Yes, I would like to find a completely put together car before diving into a build as well. I also contemplated the idea of getting a front clip and swapping, but the time and headache isn’t going to be worth the couple of bucks I’m going to be saving, IF i even save any money
