Removing the Handbrake Handle: Yep, I Need Help

Ok this should be basic, but I cannot get the handbrake handle off of my 1989 RX. Is there something simple I am missing, or do I need to look into simply cutting the old one off? I am replacing it with a new factory piece, so I am not upset about losing the original one if it comes to that.

3 12mm bolts..disconnect the wire on the assembly( the one that sends signal to the cluster to tell you that you left the Ebrake on)..pop the long nut off the clip..move the cable over and DONE.

Or are you trying to get the plastic handle off the Ebrake itself?
