I just finished up cleaning parts for my rebuild and i think I may have some damage to the oil pump. Admittedly this is my first time doing a rebuild so I'm not 100% sure if what I'm seeing is normal or not. There seems to be minor pitting as well as scouring on multiple parts of the assembly. The grooves aren't very deep but I can feel it with my finger nail.

So i guess what im wondering is if this type of wear warrents a replacement pump or is this common place?

 

It time for a new oil pump. Dirty oil has caused that
