FC speedo routing question

Greetings,

I have an Auto '89 FC3C I am putting back together. One of the issues with it is the old speedo cable was bound up and ripped out after the previous owner replaced the auto trans.

I bought a new cable, and took note of the routing of the old original one. I was suprised to find it was routed down the U joint on the steering column. It didn't seem like a very "fluid" path. It has a lot of bends in it etc.

My question is this: Where does it route normally in the engine bay?

Also is there any prep work like pre-lubricating the inside of the cable?

Thanks.

I really just need a good image looking down the engine bay from standing at drivers side wheel.

And yes I have searched, and even looked at people's engine bay pics. Problem is that the speedo cable gets lost in all the hoses.

This is the first step in getting this RX7 back on the road!

ok well it has a boot on the firewall, and then it goes pretty much straight down by the fuel filter, where there is a clip for it, and then a couple more, one behind the filter and then one on the floor, and then it screws into the trans.

on the inside it is a pretty straight shot to the speedo.
