Air pump 86 S4 N/A

Air pump question. . . .

I'm getting a loud whack sound in the engine bay when it's hot and over 2,500 RPM . .. I've deduced it to be the air pump.

This is now my 3rd air pump over the last 2 years. What I have noticed is that air pumps are going up in price. . . I used to have lots of choices in the 99 dollar range. Now all I get is Cardone, and that's it. All of them sitting around 160 bucks plus tax/delivery. (previous one is Cardone and lasted 1,500 miles)... .CARDONE33793{N30413710, N35013810, 33-793}

The question I have is this. . . .Is the air pump on a 86 S4 N/A used on other mazda cars/trucks.

Is there an alternate air pump solution besides taking it off?

Let me ask this question. . .are all the air pumps the same throughout the S4's and S5's, turbos and N/A's ?

Thanks. . .

the inlet and outlets vary, but you can go 79-91. you're actually better off finding a good used one

You're right . . .I magically came across a 1988 GXL at the local pick and pull.

For 179 bucks I got

Intake Air temp sensor. . . That thing is getting hard to find.
TPS
Interior plastic upper rear both sides.
Air pump. . .That works and is in my car now.
BACV valve
EGR valve that does not work. . .probably never find a working one again.
Sunroof panel slightly rusted but I worked some bond magic.
Adjustable resistor
pillar plastic
Boost sensor with pill in the line
plastic hatch latch cover.

I should have bought more but that's what was most important at the time.
