Advice on rebuild

Hi,

Pulled apart a motor that was sitting for a long time.

Can someone advise me on the condition of the parts, if they are reusable or rebuildable?

Concerns are:
-Tthe coolant seal walls, engine was full of rust.
-Both rotor housings have a deep grove on 1 side of the rotor, also part seems like its chrome flaked, rest of the rotor housing is very smooth.
-heatmarks exentric shaft is this normal?

chrome flaking?
chrome flaking?

the mark on the E shaft is totally normal, if you bought a new one, it would have that.

the rotor housings look like pretty normal wear.

the side irons, i would keep cleaning on, maybe poke some of the walls with a pick or something.
that one where it looks like its moving is scary

Thanks, what is the minimum acceptable coolant wall thickness on an iron, i tried to search but cant find any info on this. 79 overhaul manual says 0.02 inches but this seems very thin to me.

Also what is considered edge wear on a housing? Im not sure, if i go by the smaller width (deep grooves) its 0.06 inches, but if i go by discoloration groove its 0.12 inches.

Obvious problems may show up in pics, but you should really have each piece inspected, in person, by an experienced engine builder.

I recently had many components, from six engines*, that looked ok, rejected by a builder.

Given the expense of seal kits, installation, etc. you really don't want to put substandard used parts into you motor.

(* the parts from these six yielded enough usable parts for 2.5 short blocks.)

It looks like you car had significant porting work done at some time. This will complicate using the parts again, as the car will need to be tuned to the porting.

They should be stock ports, its a 6 port engine, maybe its the angle of the picture but doesn't seem any work has been done to it. I'm happy to buy new parts, but these irons are not available anymore, so would have to use turbo irons.
