Interior swap done, dummy lights acting up?????
I swapped out the maroon interior for my 87 Turbo 2 with blue interior from a 91 GXL. Today when I got everything done I noticed my door adjar light stays on, when I pull the E-brake the GAS light comes on, and the clock worked for a while, but quit. The dummy cluster is also from the 91, could that have anything to do with it. Also my interior dome lights are not working now either. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Also my memory has always been messed up in the car. The radio would always go back to the factory preset, and the clock while it wored in the dash would reset every time the key was turned off. I really would like to get this fixed just because its annoying, not really necessary. Thanks

this is going to **** you off, it sure as hell made me mad. you need to remove the dash again. take the wireing harness off your 87 dash and put it on the 91. i made that mistake. you also need to retain your 87 dummy lights. there is also a ground that has to be disconneted from the dash, there is no place for it on the 91 so you'll have to run a wire to another ground some were. message me if you have any more questions. I switched my 87 TII for the black 91 GTU interor. Chris

haha, i swapped my 86 na with a 91 TII interior.. u'll have to change the harness behind the dash!
OR in THEORY, you could rewire the 91 harness at the ECU.. but trust me, rewiring aint fun

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Hmmm...I put an 89 gtu interior in my old 87 T2, it did the same thing. I kept the 87 wiring harness though... Also check to see that you didnt wire up the interior lights at the sunroof wrong, there ar like 4 connectors and they can go 2 different ways. Mine were wrong, and when I opened the door the interior light did not work, but one of the other idiot lights came on. I pulled the e-brake and the fuel light came on. First check the wires for the interior light, and find yourself an 89-91 type idiot cluster and see if thist fixes it. A couple of the lights are in different positions on the 86-8 to 89+, so you need to keep the one that goes with your dash wiring harness.

Well, I did switch the old wiring harness to the new dash first thing before I put it in, I knew better than to do that. Also there was a ground that wend in the center of the dash that there was no place for in the new dash, so I got a self tapping screw and grounded it to the metal on the new dash where the old ground was located. Also Im using the dummy cluster from the 91 GXL??? Not sure what else the problem would be??? Thanks for the info, hopefully this clarifies it a little more from what I did, to why its like this. So do I need to get the old cluster and old cluster surround, or can I get one from a newer turbo 2 that will work with the car? Thanks guys, you all know your stuff!!!!!
