3rd gen alternator on series 4.

Hey! Here are the first photos from this swap. Detailed write-up to follow in a few days.

This is the 3rd gen pulley. I didn't need the pulley but, I needed the spacer part of the pulley. It's all one piece so, I had to modify it.

Here's the 3rd gen pulley after the modifications. There's not much left. I removed the pulley and then shortened the remaining spacer until my belts lined up.

This is the alternator ready to install.

How much better is the FD's? I'm going to want to upgrade my alternator once I get my UD pulley, dual alt pulley, and efan..... should I go w/ the FD one, or just an 89+ one? Do you know the rates of each?

'86-'88 = 70 amp. Wouldn't charge my battery with 14 amp e-fan.

'89-'91 = 80 amp. Charged enough but, it's now broken. I bought it used.

'93+ = 100 amp. It's in and working now. This puts me well over my needed amperage.

'89-'91 costs only about $10 less than the '93+ at NAPA.

There's a little work involved in going to the '89-'91. There's more work to go to the '93+.

Here it is. I just finished.

Thanks! Yea, it looks like it belongs there. I'll write it up in a day or two and post here again.

I must give credit to Brad(rx7_ragtop). I didn't even know that it would fit on my engine until he did it. Here's his write-up.

Mine seems to have been a little more work than his because I have the dual pulley. I had to make another change because of the pipe for the FMIC.
