I saw that already and read the RX8club thread as well. I need the facts. Information about seemed to drop off suddenly.

Just curious, what advantage would you have spending that amount of money on a weaker and problematic Renesis 20b? Even if you did manage to get one to work, the cost and performance would be a large downgrade from the Cosmo's already proven platform.

^ Yep! The exhaust of the Renesis is the limiting factor when it comes to MAX output. The only reasons this build makes since is if your installing this engine in a newer vehicle that has to stay emissions compliant or your just trying to be different.

It comes from a desire to be different. I'm past the big HP days, although I do still enjoy them from time to time. But I think a nice 3-rotor N/A renesis will produce about 375- 400 with a nice smooth power band with a good tune . Plus it should sound great. And really who would be expecting that under the hood?? Now in all honesty I really want to build a copy of the Furai engine, but thus far I haven't been able to locate any specs and mod list on it.

T-Von, On a side note , any thoughts on direct injecting a 13B as a retro fit. I've got some plates and housings that are basically trashed laying around and I was musing about it the other night.

they call the engine in the furai a renesis, but it is actually a peripheral port 13G/20B race engine.

so the specs are pretty simple, its just a stock 13G. Mazda rated these 450hp @8500rpms.

to make an MSP-20B, you would have to make a custom front center (the thick one) housing, as there are none with the side exhaust ports.

Kiwi-RE has a "short crank" eccentric shaft that can be used to make a 20B variant without the use of a thick side plate when using the MSP or 13B intermediate plates.
The 13B based "short crank" is similar

The 3 rotor kit has the following:-

1:- Eccentric Shaft

2:- 1 x RX8 Centre plate

3:- 1 x RX8 Stationary gear (modified)

4:- 1 x Stationary gear carrier

5:- 1 x Stationary gear external oiling mod

6:- 2 x eccentric shaft end caps

Direct injection will be one of my experiments this coming year. The main reason I wanna use it is to make the engine more fuel efficient. I have enough junk rotor housings to experiment with.

The more I think about this the more I think it's possible. Mounting the rail might be a pain since traditional housings aren't really designed for it. and if I'm not mistaken. Wouldn't direct injection allow for somewhat of a safety buffer under increased boost due to the point at which the fuel is injected ??

^ Don't know about that but I'll be doing it for NA applications.

anyone else want to weigh in on this ???

T-Von, I've been leaning more and more towards an NA myself 13B or MSP based, but the "lack" of HP or rather the difficulty of breaking the 400 RWHP mark without going P-port is somewhat of a put off
