who did the 20b conv. themselves?

Im just curious about those of you who did the conversion yourself, without sending it out. I have a chance to pick up a full front clip relatively cheap and was wondering besides the parts that Im going to get with the clip what else as far as money Id need. I will do the work myself, I actually own a shop in massachusets and have the 2 post lifts, engine hoists, engine stands and im a whiz with the electrical, so doing the work myself besides the front clip how much money would be involved? I intend on doing this starting in september or october, and selling my 2 rotor single turbo engine to also help supply the money. Thanks let me know. I did do a search but didnt find the exact information that im asking for, thanks a ton

So it's going into a T2 car? People say to count on spending like $10k or so.

I'm planning on doing almost all the work myself, unless I get a welder. Then it'll be 100% me. But then again, I could always use a little help. I'd prefer to not farm out any work, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, it sounds like you'll be able to do it with your shop and electrical knowledge. Good luck.

I don't understand what information you are looking for. The important thing to understand is that the 20B swap is a custom process, and there is no A, B, C method of installation, and there is no parts listing of what you need. It all depends on how you build it. It's kinda like asking how much money or what parts it takes to build a custom Harley.

If you are just looking for what all is involved, these are some of the main issues:
1) Hood Clearance
2) Swaybar Clearance
3) Fabricating a Subframe (3Gen) or Engine Mounts (other Gens)
4) Cooling
5) Ignition
6) EMS/Carb
7) Drivetrain Upgrade (for single-turbo 20B's)
8) Tachometer Recalibration/Replacement

If I work it right, I'll be able to work around all the numbers. Here's my list:

1 customised manifold and FC waterpump
2 no proplem
3 front half has already been done, with the tranny mount remaining to be done
4 a 3 core rad should do it
5 20B dizzy prototype is ready to go
6 still need a carb
7 already have a ribcase tranny and the diff can be upgraded anytime
8 no need to recalibrate or replace. It's a 4 banger/2 rotor stock tach and I know it will be accurate with my dizzy. I just know it.

Don't cut yourself short. None of these issues can be avoided (except #7). You just figured them out easily.

BTW, please feel free to add to my list if there is anything I forgot.

I worked on #3 today. A little more fabricating, and I'll have a usable tranny mount.

, the only thing i can think of is moving the radiator, the stock mounts, put the bottom of the radiator into the pulley. someone found me a dash, so phase 2 is prolly gonna be sooner than later, where we address
2, 5 and 8...
