What do you 20B guys do about smog?

I'm seriously contemplating an NA 20B setup.

One of the things I'm wondering about is what do you guys do with regards to smog and such legal things

Maybe the issue is particular to me since I'm new to CA and don't really understand the laws very well. I'm still trying to figure out how much trouble I can get into with such an illegal swap here.

Going to post this in the West section also but not sure if I'd get better input here.

Thanks in advance for any input.

well here is the deal.

technically since the 20B was never legalized in the US its illegal. law is federal. i dont think anyone cares about the FD, but my S13/S14 friends have all been pulled over and had the hood popped, the cops have list, and know how to find the SR20.

the stock engine will pass smog (stock ecu + cat etc etc), turbos have no effect on smog numbers. the port does effect emissions, so you can't go to far.

this is out the tailpipe, if the smog machine doesnt like the ignition signal, or the smog guy notices that there is something different, you're screwed. the easy way is just to pay someone.

so in summary, its illegal, but so is parking the car for more than 48 hours in your own driveway....

I would assume most people pay the smog conductor a fair amount of money so that they'll just let you slide. Some states dont do emissions testing and the laws are a lot less strict but if you're in california, theres no way to have a legal 20b, but like the above poster said, we do a bunch of illegal things already.
