Are used 20B rotor housings that expensive?

Someone is selling a trio of 20B rotor housings on eBay...
They are all currently over $200 *EACH*.
The pics are misleading, since the description says it's only for ONE rotor housing, but it shows all 3.

Are they worth that much due to the "20B" emboss???

Well, that's less than half the price of new 20B rotor housings.

marketing?

now a question for myself

Is there any difference between the 20b housings and s4,5,6etc housings other than the slight plug location changes if any and exhaust port/diffuser design?

yeah.. I think the fact that they say 20b on them makes them worth more to some people... on the other hand it seems like the price of used rotor housings for a 13b are on the rise as well

I'm **** so I would pay more just to keep my engine saying 20B. Don't want people peeking in my engine bay and seeing 13b anywhere.

Do they even make new ones?
Does Mazda (Japan?) even have these in stock?

I get perfectly reusable 13B rotor housings for half of that all the time.
I would think those Cosmo "diffusers" would be worse for performance, and therefore less demand?

I still think bidders are thinking the auctions are for 3 rotor housings per auction and pushing the price up unnecessarily.
I don't think even FD 13B-REW rotor housings sell for that much that quickly.

Interesting...

One of the Japanese "tuner" videos shows the 20B housings as if they are the greatest thing ever. I assume that is why people want them. Sorry, I forget which video it was. Also, as BLK FC3S put it, most people who have a 20B want it to say "20B", and they especially would want a 20B housing if only one were damaged.

That's probably because those morons listen to vendors like you, and don't realize they could get a new set for that price.

WOW those are some really good prices for new housings. They are almost 300.00 dollars cheaper than Fd housings. If your willing to go new and exchange the sleeves, I see no reason to pay the price for Fd housings. Hell I believe the chrome material is the same also. I'm currently too lazy to remove the engine from my car. Anyone know the real difference between the front 20b housing when compared to the center and rear? There's a 130.00 price difference. What gives?

Nice find Evil Aviator...
I wasn't even aware Mazdatrix offered those parts.

Maybe I should be a bunch of spare counterweights, since they are almost half price of the 13B version!

At one time, I was corresponding with Carlos Lopez (GT1-20b on the forum). In one message he said that he had a lot of stock 20B housings left over from his racing engine builds. While he didn't quote a price, the suggestion was that they were worth only a little more than scrap value.

You may want to PM him to see what kind of price he would offer.

Before you open your BIG mouth here and call people morons, why dont you do your homework first?

Any company can post parts for sale on a website... does that mean they actually have them on the shelf or can get them.....THE ANSWER is NO!!!!

This was the set I was talking about...you got good money for them because they were clean and they have been hard to get, especially for people in smaller Mazda markets..

Simple economics.. SUPPLY and DEMAND..

Is there a difference in the chrome surface compared to the 13b housings? Better/worse?

Lastly, if I was overhauling a 20B I would use the FD3S housings as if I am not mistaken, the tolerances may be tighter when using the FD3S housing, which would mean more compression.. More compression=more power

FWIW, Mazdaspeed has the front 20B housings new and in stock for $500.30. The center and rear (same part #) are shown backordered.

Not sure what the difference is between the 2 part #'s or whether it would be possible to use 3 front rotor housings. It doesn't show the center/rear's as discontinued, just not in stock but I could always find out if someone was really interested.

They dont..... as stated above.... back ordered..which in the past, for MAZDA parts,....is a nice way to say NLA...

Which goes back to what I said earlier...getting all 3 correct Front Middle Rear housing in perfect low mileage shape is a deal for what Logans housings are selling for on ebay...

fair enough,

Just out of curiosity whats the difference between front middle and rear?

I know that people use 13b housings for all 3 so that can't be that much difference right?

As I posted above, Mazdaspeed (*NOT* Mazdatrix) has the front 20B housings in stock right this second.

The big difference there is that some vendors make their money primarily by supporting the rotary engine community by developing unique goods and services, while other vendors have no skills to make an honest living so they make their money primarily by simply hyping-up used parts and inflating the market to their advantage.

The difference between housings is with the shape of the exhaust sleeves.
This guy bought three brand new housings though he did not say where he sourced them from.
