Question Used 20B Block Price Questions

So, I found a couple of "blocks" down here in SFL. I want to know if this is a good deal or not. The blocks are already dismantled and set on a shelf. The seller wants to give me a broken down short block with brand new T2 rotor housings and used but good condition 8.5 low compression T2 rotors. Also he is throwing in Mazda 3mm apex seals. I am not getting the oil pan (I already have a modded one) and I am also not getting the LIM, UIM, Water Pump, etc...... The irons are all C or D code. I can also have my choice of E-Shaft.

The seller wants $5,000. Is this a good price? Besides the 12.7mm GURU stud kit, I would have all of the parts that I want to run. The motor would also needed to be streetported though.

Also, how to I distinguish between a C/D code E-Shaft and a A/B code shaft. I do not want the A/B code.

Thank You,

Phil

seems like an ok price but not a killer deal or anything. You are getting the benefit of seeing it torn down and knowing that the components are good. Usually you'd pay 3500-4000 and hope that everything is usable on the inside (those deals are getting scarce too). So all in all, if your mind is set on the 20b, this isn't a bad option. But again, it's not a killer deal by any means.

So having 3 brand new T2 housings doesnt make it a good deal?

my price on new T2 housings is $660 each, and Mazda has them. 3mm seals are about $75 each (!).

that is about $3400, so how good a deal it is depends on how much you value the irons, and shaft.

Does anyone know an easy way to visually identify a C/D code E-shaft from a A/B code shaft?

Also, if there any advantage/disadvantage to running T2 rotor housings instead of 3rd gen rotor housings?

I pm'd you.
The t2 housings has different plug timing if im not mistaken and is stronger around the plugs for higher boost applications.

the S4 T2 housings have the spark plugs in a different place than everything else. there is also no place for a knock sensor

the S5 T2 housings basically are FD housings, except without the teflon break in coating

THey are also weaker. THey have less material around the spark plug area so they are known to bow out under high boost
