Porting the 20b NA
Porting the 20b NA
I have had my FC turbo for 2 years and recently one of the apex seals went. But I dont want to rebuid the 13b, instead i want to put a NA 20b in.
When I get a 20b motor I plan to use all the parts off it i can, I want to keep the stock intake manifold, stock injectors, hopefully reuse the rotors (I know alot of people upgrade to the high compression rotors when going NA but i dont want to do that).
I know that i am gonna have to fabricate my own headers and motor mounts in the engine bay so that is no problem.
I plan to run a Microtec ECU.
So my question is, how big of a port can I do before the intake manifold looses its velocity efficiency and the injectors max out? I prey i can do a bridgeport but i dont see that happening so maybe a streetport?
thanks

i don't know the answer to your question on stock intake manifold dynamics, but i will say that if you plan to run the engine without turbos, you shouldn't be running out of fuel on the stock injectors - even if you do bridge.
by the way, if it were mine i'd go with a streetport.

the throttle body is more of a restriction that the manifold, from what i've heard. I would recomend a large streetport over a bridge. ive heard of bridgeports breaking over time, like 30k miles or so. with the price/rarity of the 20b fat iron plate, i would never want to bridgeport it because if it broke that would suck. you can get a good amount of power with a nice streetport.
