Mother of all 20B windage trays

I don't normally frequent this corner of the Forum, but I thought I'd show you guys the Mother of all 20B windage trays. 1-inch thick 6061-T6 Aluminum. We did this for a customer who wanted the stiffening of a thick dry sump plate but still wants a wet sump pan (sand rail application). It's actually the beginning of a custom fab'd sheet aluminum oil pan, which will be welded onto this plate.

This is what our dry sump plate looks like...we just knocked some holes in it and made provisions for oil pickup, etc.

That windage tray is a monster!
It's even thicker than my sump plate that you have pictured below. It's only 3/4"

very nice, but calling it a windage tray isn't exactly accurate in a rotary application.

Nice plate, but that makes the 20B sit so high that you'll have to cut a hole in the stock hood!

Well, this is for a sand rail, so hood clearance is not exactly a problem.

very true...no problems with the E shaft sloshing through the oil =) but, Ive seen people use a spacer like this to stiffen up the motor, esp with our long 20b's....id like to see a thin spacer, but with a built in channel containing a strip of rubber. I think I saw pineapple racing with something similiar...I work in aerospace and alot of our gaskets have that. I'll try to get a picture later

Do you mean an o-ring groove? Yes, we use them for our alminum FC and FD oil pans. Rob and I have talked about doing an o-ring gooved "windage" tray, but doing so is a bit remote. We are making some oil pan reinforcing pieces, like what they used to use for the rotary trucks and earlier. GSL-SE FB through FD. Stainless Steel.

Blake, lol...I didnt even realize you were from pineapple hehehehe. Yea, I wish there was stuff like that available for a reasonable price for the 20b's. You might be able to sell a few of those oil pans with the o ring groove built in, as long as they dont leak! My oil pan is dented on the bottom and im debating not using it....
